Sorry to hear this. Obviously contact your seller. They need to make good on this.
There is also support on the ASM web-site and i definitely would contact them as well, they can talk you through this and answer the questions you have.
I’ve not heard of this before.
Sounds like a manufacturing issue. i have no knowledge though on the specifics of the pads on the HSD.
Is there a calibration for the pads ? I don’t think so. On page 10 of the System Setup menu, is calibration for the Ribbon and Wheel, but that is only for the HSK, i don’t think there is an equivalent on the HSD. There is a settings page, for the Pads or Keyboard on page 3 of the System Setup, which may change things, but it still sounds like you have a problem. That lets you change the velocity curves for the pads.
There’s a chance that this might be a break-in issue, ASM support can tell you this, that it will go away after you use it for a while – hopefully it is.
Could just be a sticky, or misaligned pad. It might settle after a good bit of use. Maybe try pressing down on each pad and wiggling your finger while doing so to bed the pads/contacts.
I sold my Supernova II KB about 10 years ago, and still regret it to this day. Keep getting tempted when they come up on ebay, but the prices are usually nuts.
Would anyone be down for contributing to a group patch bank? I’ve wanted to create a full bank for a while, but finding the time to create 128 patches with macros etc that I feel are worthy of sharing hasn’t been realistic, but I’d love to contribute 5 to 10 patches.
I’m sure between us we could knock out a bank or two.
Good idea I’ll probably wait a while until I’ve mastered this synth inside out until I start doing serious sound design. There’s a few features I’m still figuring out with my desktop.
Currently in the manual seeing if it allows me to programme my own phrases in the ARP I know it has about 61 factory patterns but I wanna do my own.
Just assigned a Macro (LFO) to try and scan the phrases/patterns - see if I get good results.
Save you the looking – there is no way to edit the phrases (YET). There are 64 of them. I’ve put the phrase selection on an expression pedal, but getting exact with that, say i want phrase 27, is the problem.
I keep hope alive that there will be a computer based phrase editor. My hunch is that making phrases is probably a little involved.
I’ve also been meaning to get something like this:
and programing it to send out MIDI CC so i’d have a button for every phrase. The NeoTrellis would be useful for a lot of things as well. If you could sequence phrases, that would be musically useful too.
But recently i’ve also been using the phrase feature less, as i find other ways to do things.
I’ve never rebought any gear I sold…but id get the Hydra again. I think, despite what the shop I got it from said, that mine was a dud. Glen seemed to think so…
this vids got me worked up again
I was going to pull the trigger on a desktop unit to be externally sequenced. I then looked at the midi implementation, It’s 99% NRPN! It makes sense, how else would you give an external sequencer total control?
But, If you want to make instrument definitions for something like the Cirklon or the Pyramid, you’re SOoL. (How would you do this with an Elektron Sequencer?) I guess its time to put in a feature request over at Sequentix!
Ah crap I hadn’t checked this before I bought Hydra this is a bummer indeed. I was hoping to control my Hydra desktop from my Akai MPC X but Iv’e just watched a part of this video below.
The guy says he uses a Beatstep Pro connected to his MPCX to deal with the NRPN’s… Why no Midi CC on the Hydra I don’t understand? I’m gonna have to find a work round here or tweak the Hydra live.
Full disclosure: I don’t know anything about what is going on at ASM – despite whatever’s been said.
It could be MIDI 2.0 instead, when that’s done, which i guess won’t work with your hub either Rob. Them adding MPE – both IN, via Mod-Matrix and OUT surprised me when that happened.
Not sure what to do. Just got the Hydra module and using the pads, the aftertouch is implemented so well on some of those patches…the issue is my controller does not do aftertouch so I’m losing on some of that cool sound. Do i buy a good controller with aftertouch…OR sell the module and get the KB version…I really really like the HS, just not sure which route to take.
