There’s a “Casino Mode”, that you can turn off or set to different time delays, that goes into some sort of random display, that’s kind of fun to watch. But fortunately you touch anything and your are immediately back to where you were.
nice
Cosy me a fortune you have lol
Anyways looks like delivery is Monday 18th for mine. In the meantime I’m gonna drool over some more videos. Oh and I think I can also grab the KB version around Christmas time. For now the DT version will be fine.
Rob
Ooh nice surprise Hydra Synth will be here tomorrow
Looking forward to a weekend of tweaking.
I’m sure you know the Desktop is designed to be rackmounted. And it comes with ears to do that. They even spaced the connectors in the back with a recess to fit a rack well – which annoys a lot of people using it as a desktop.
Desktop
Dimensions: 44 x 22.3 x 7 cm
(17.32 x 8.78 x 2.76 inches)
I have no idea if this even approaches answering your question.
Cheers was just looking for ideas, might be a hame to rack this tho… coming tomorrow I’m excited
Amazing, love that pic… can’t wait till tomorrow now
Very nicely buttoned up here. I didn’t know the Digitakt and the Heat (or any of the Elektron smaller metal boxes fit so well in rackmount. Also i like the use of the ASM patch on the power conditioner. I forgot about all the stickers that came with the HS. The compressor is nice in this too.
Yeah, ASM is really on top of their sticker game. Came with about a dozen or so. Also, I love that it included rack ears.
The DT/HT rack is made by Fraction Industries. It definitely helps keep my little setup tight.
Also, it comes with a hard copy of the manual. That feels rare nowadays. ASM has me feeling a bit spoiled.
… except for the “headdress of wires” coming from the Digitakt and Heat. Makes you really appreciate the placement of connectors on the HSD. Do you have a connection for a headphone, maybe off the compressor?
ADDED: Yeah i liked the glossy covered bound manual. I wonder if rob_lee will get the newer edition of the manual ?
I´ve got a Hydra desktop and i absolutely LOVE IT! It complements my elektron machines in a beautiful way, and it´s got everything i need. Can deliver everything from wickedly evil growling bass monster to lush sweet airy ambient pad thingies without breaking a sweat.
It absolutely excels in modulated wobbly sounds of course… Fantastic machine.
Cool, looks pretty much just like my setup before i sold the Heat, except the fact that i have a Digitone instead of the DTakt. The twin mount for half-size elektrons is da bomb!
Everything is running into a patchbay normaled into my interface running into Ableton. The cables off the top don’t bother me much. I’m just happy I could get this all on my desk in a comfortable way.
The HSD ticks so many boxes for me.
But there are two that I’m concerned it won’t tick. This style of programming seems like it might kill my creativity, even though it’s not typically menu divey it does seem to have some sub menus which isn’t apparent at first.
I’m not super convinced on the sound. I haven’t seen a demo that has really moved me.
Specs wise it’s incredible, HSD seems like a bargain for what you get really.
I have an HSK and have been considering an auxillary attachments for it to go along the top. Something that might attach via the CV connectors and MIDI.
I’ve thought about something slim like a single bar of 1U utility stuff like in particular the modules from Intellijel, but also consider a single row of carefully considered Eurorack to pair with this all. I am thinking something that goes the entire width of the HSK.
What i’ve wanted for a while is a single button Arpeggiator Phrase selector, although i am using that considerably less now. I also want ASM to release come sort of custom Phrase Editor, i figure that’s got to be possible some day.
The presets are OK but for me it took just a few seconds of twiddling until i was sold. I bought it on chance of sorts; didn´t listen to so much of the demos, but it sounds stunningly good. The sound is very very VERY good in a high fidelity way. It has a feel like after driving a rusty old Volvo, you put yourself in a brand new BMW M5 with all the extras money can afford. It´s that good (imo of course).
I ordered mine 2 months ago. Keeps getting pushed forward. Last message was I have to wait another month… think about pulling back and save the money invested in it. Buy it when they are in stock decent… I am from the Netherlands… anyone else has issues with availability?
