Wish I could get you onto Korg with my Minilogue xd click - feckers ignore me!
Iām guessing Warm Mode was always there - they simply moved it to an easier to access place.
I think this was before the āwarmā update.

just feels like something is missing. it feels light, not much power/push/guts. when I listen to the prophets, an1x, summit, even the system 8 and othersā¦there is a density that comes with the sound. more presence in the bass and the mids. like breath or something,. the hydra just feels powerless. very clean, but doesnāt evoke any response from me. doesnt hit you in the gut.
want to love it.
But there seem to be a whole lot of tools to make that happen though. Itās a very open synth so maybe itās just a programmerās synth in that regard. It doesnāt sound phatt immediately but you have to work for it. Only logical because it can do so much so finding those sweet spots is harder.
Pure conjecture from my part as I do not own it, but I canāt imagine with that much mod options it would be impossible to get a big sound out of it?
Itās not like an ob6 that is pretty much a very closed design with a huge sweet spot but very closed architecture.
Thatās what I thought too. Reason for my initial excitement.
I just think itās the nature of the build. Like an alto sax vs a tenor. They do what they do.
I hope Benn gets his hands on one. Iād enjoyed seeing his take on it.
i am loving my Hydra, although i still havenāt spent that much time playing with it. The PolyAT, ribbon and UI are fantastic! In my opinion it sounds great, and warm mode makes a noticeable difference in the overall character of the sound. Just one question regarding Theremin mode: I canāt seem to keep the Hold control to remain ON after I save the patchā¦i.e. everytime I switch to this patch, I have to turn Hold ON again. Is this even possible or am I doing something wrong?
This. I tried very hard, but that āsomethingā was missing. Great synth but it didnāt work for me, only becasue of the sound.
Andā¦naming patches. 5 minutes to make a patch and 5 to name it.
I feel the same. Theres a lot of synths coming out at the moment and they seem like their cashing in on the new wave of synthesists.
I feel bad saying itā¦I want to love the synth. So solid, fantastic UI, so many features, looks amazing.
But bottom line is the sound.
You mean the sound that was clinically proven to not sound the way you swore it sounded, on the synth that you said you didnāt like but mysteriously bought anyway, during some rip in the spacetime continuum between making two negative posts about it here, barely a day apart?
Cheers!
Hey bud. Sorry I donāt say what you wanna hear. Keep ridinā me if it makes you feel good.
(I can explain it to you again if you donāt understand what I said before)
Iām just paying attention is allā¦
Cheers!
Doubtful.
What else can I sayā¦I fucked up.
Thatās kinda it. Thanks for the reminder tho.
Hahaha oh my gosh guys. Really though phaelam, I donāt know why you keep returning to this thread to post about how you donāt like the sound, whatās the goal exactly? Might be inviting comments like the one from John, it does say āsavageā right in his name BTW did you end up getting yours back after sending it in for service? Had a chance to spend any more time with it?
been gone about three weeks/month now. havenāt heard anything yet.
Iām still an owner, and will visit this thread. still hoping to find love in the synth [when I get it back]. if I cantā¦I figure out what to do.
I was just agreeing with another post. guess you canāt have opinion, disagree or even agree with people anymore. internet!
Haha hey no worries man, not telling you not to have opinions, yours has just already been shared on this topic many timesā¦ Feel free to pop in every couple days and let us know that youāre still not feeling the soundā¦ I certainly donāt mind! Really I hope that it wins you over when it comes back, the hardest to please always fall the hardestā¦ is that a saying?
