Ok thanks, but I’d be curious about other NRPN values…
And I barely use a computer…

I read there were a doc, but I couldn’t find it.

There was a document on their website a long time ago, but it had an error, so it’s better for me to go to the source. Plus Bit Redux is new so you 'll need an updated link.

Anyone else here want to GoFind?

I tested the Bit Redux NRPN.

Probably this; hexadecimal values aren’t practical…

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Allusion of electric guitar, fuzz pedal, feedback …

You should probably check out the 3-ler filters if you haven’t already as the drive on those can get pretty intense

For anyone lurking here who has been thinking about picking up a Hydrasynth Explorer, ASM has just dropped the price by $100.

Not clear if this is a permanent price drop or just a sale. I see that Sweetwater and Perfect Circuit have already adjusted pricing to reflect this.

See this article on Synthtopia:

anyone using the explorer as a midi controller as well? I’m thinking of recouping so dough and desk space by changing HK for HE and getting rid of my M32 controller, which is super easy to setup for midi shits.

[just spit balling some gear reduction space reclamation ideas]

I’m just going to copy/paste my question on another topic.
Other than the 24 RGB buttons on the panel, and the -10 +10 underneath the central screen, and 4 missing knobs for adjusting values, is there any difference to the desktop version? Is it the exact same synth, with just a bit more menu diving?

Page 9 of the PDF user’s manual has a couple of bullet point lists spelling out the few differences between the hardware versions. Best to look there if you want to understand the differences which are subtle in a couple cases. But in general they share the same synth engine. The HK also has a ribbon controller that is missing from the desktop version.

I’ll have a looksie. Thank you.

Comparing the Explorerand the Desktop →

The synth itself is the same. Beside what you mention there are a few differences, principally that the HSX doesn’t have the two CV Mod inputs, which both eliminates the CV in and more importantly the audio input over CV is lost too. The other thing is the HSD has various modes of operation with the pads. There are other smaller differences too.

I was saw that lack of audio in, but didn’t even realize the lack of CV in. Thank you for the information.

There is a plus with the HSX over the HSD and that is the HSX does MIDI Velocity Off which can be quite useful.

ADDED : Also called non-zero MIDI Note-Off Velocities. That’s a mouthful.
Also HSX is abbreviation for Hydrasynth Explorer, HSD is abbreviation for Hydrasynth Desktop.

I think HSE also has key off function.

As opposed to the off-key function, which every synth I’ve ever played has had… hmmm…

I’d rather say Note Off velocity…
Never used it.

There is also the Note On velocity zero used by Elektron and other brands, not recognized by all gear as Note off, but it should.

So the HSD Notes Off have a static value ?
