Hydrasynth from ASM

Thanks! Simply choosing Sine or Triangle within the Mutants instantly solved my problem. Now to make some nasty sounds!

Go make some crazy noise @craig! See you in the Current.

Yes, it needs a source other than itself to work.

There are cases where you want the VCO’s own signal, but IIRC the ratio does nothing that way.

great pair for VST’s as well; shame the midi out is not affected by the scale.

I’m about to buy a second hand one, since I will collect it, are there any known flaws that I should check straight away?
Thanks!

Which model?

My HS desktop has just one problem and it’s the master volume knob that makes noises when I turn it. I can have it repaired within warranty but haven’t bothered yet.

Oh yeah. Sorry. Desktop

anyone else with a desktop version find that ā€œoctave shift downā€ is weirdly unresponsive? the pad itself seems fine when playing notes, but that button combo gives me a 50% miss rate

I bought a second hand desktop.
Came like new.
Though I am finding the MIXER button responds way too much to the touch compared to all others.
There is a distinct clic on all other buttons but this one (MIXER) does NOT have the same behavior at all.
Beware I am a little OCD

Anyone know if Hydrasynth will show up as a midi device in iOS? The HS manual says it’s a class-compliant USB device but doesn’t specifically mention iOS. Asking before I waste money on a camera connection kit dongle thingy.

I don’t have my HS out to test, but any class-compliant device should work with iOS… class-compliant means it doesn’t need any special drivers

Three years later …
Thanks for finding that Cabelstein ! :grinning:
I completely forgot about that.

What i’ve been wondering the past few days, is how the two could work together ?

I have a HSK, so both synths have audio ins. How many ways can the Poly-aftertouch, or MPE, or the other controls like the ribbon, be used to control either that new hardware, or the VST that comes with it. Patches could be made to work across the two.

Two polysynths together.

There was a quote by Grant Richter several years back talking about Graham Hinton’s knowledge of electronics (and power supplies specifically). ā€œHe knows things.ā€

I think it might apply to Jukka too.

Yesterday I received a Hydrasynth explorer. I really like it so far. It’s capable of all sorts of sounds. Build quality is good. Polyphony aftertouch minikeys are good. It fits perfect next to my mpc live 2. Now it’s time to tame this little monster.

… ā€œolder oneā€ meaning HSK here.

might not be the thread to ask this question in, but would there be any advantages to buying an older va digital poly like the Novation Nova or Korg Radias over the Hydrasynth? I’ve never tried either, just the Peak. never played a microkorg or ms2000. but I have owned a hydra desktop and explorer and liked them

I am always curious about the older digital ones and how they hold up today, especially versus modern more affordable options

I was very disapointed with Virus TI, supposed to be one of best VA. I didn’t like filters, end of the story.
I much preferred Micromonsta 2 !
I didn’t like Blofeld filters either.

Filter quality is really important for me.
Hydrasynth filters seem really good.

Analog filters, not VAs
