Hydrasynth from ASM

M83 have toned it down to just 5 hydrasynths, a Sub 37 and a Make Noise shared system (on the floor!) apparently.

Some impressive live sounds here, on KEXP last week

I’ve been thinking about grabbing another desktop for a while now. I miss the HS. The 3rd Wave really covers most things that it does (at least the way I used them) but the HS does some sounds that I haven’t hit on the 3rd Wave yet. I also approach the two synths much differently. Especially the desktop Hydra with the pads. The pads made me use the synth completely differently than the keys. Plus, since I have a PolyAT controller now (same keys no less) it would be the best of both interfaces for the desktop. Hmmm… getting all gassy again…

Well, not in a hurry to do this, but at some point I’m almost certain I’ll have another Hydra desktop sitting on the table if I can figure out a way to squeeze it in somehow.

Yeah a sub37 would make sense.

“Other intriguing rumors include a new modular synth from Supercritical Redshift 6, a new analog polysynth from Cyma Forma, and potential upgrades for the ASM Hydrasynth synthesizer.”

Has this been brought up? I cant find any mention of upgrade rumors!

Well kinda sorta.

I mention my humble desire in a post in the SB24 thread, for an update with some new Mutants added.

I also had an extravagant desire as well.

( I have no insider info. )

Another thing i have been expecting for quite a while is a hardware version upgrade for the HSK with the keyboard change to allow Note Off Velocity ( like what is on the Deluxe and the Explorer. )

Don’t really see much need for other upgrades other than that, but there no doubt could be if they make a hardware change anyways.

While we’re wish-posting, I would love for the Hydrasynth’s voice-allocation settings to allow for a Roland-esque Per Key mode.

Round Robin is lush and warm, but I don’t always want to hear the same note phasing over itself.

… or upgrade the usage

acid, drums and stuff, Hydra solo

acid, broken drums and glitchy stuff, Hydra solo

  • give the bass some more guts. And keep it from losing so much volume as it gets deeper

  • do something about that aliased sound. Warm mode just doesn’t trim off the harshness. It can be made to be subtle, but I still hear it. Nails on a chalkboard.

One of my favourite things with the hydra is creating a patch from scratch, and then randomising only the macro. you then have many flavours of the patch available, and you can come back to it at the end by turning the macros back to zero. powerful stuff

Nice tip! Gotta try it…

im hoping for a (non lfo based) sequencer addition. The encoders + its displays would fit perfectly to it.

I’m not sure if it’s so much that the HS loses volume lower down as it’s what bad gear guy called in his review “the quest for punch”. A better filter/resonance would be on my wishlist.

The (free/demo) TDR Ultrasonic filter is the only thing I’ve found that really ameliorates the aliasing thing. I’d buy it but the default preset is really all I need.

everybody wants their monosynth to be phaaaattt just to make the live of engineers harder who have then to remove all that low-end :stuck_out_tongue:

a patch inspired by Gloria Coates, which I had the luck to meet at least once …

Also on Patchstorage for further exploration.

Have fun!

Great tip! Thanks

If your bass is a sine wave, there‘s this knob called „volume“ top left :stuck_out_tongue:
