Ok and then pads won’t trigger notes ? If so, it’s perfect
Yes, I’ll finally keep it. After getting the DNII, I didn’t use it for weeks but yesterday I tried it again and it’s so much powerful and expressive than DNII. I also got an AR MKII and I love its sound and workflow, very powerful for live gesture.
So I guess I can have raw, dirty analog sounds with AR (and samples) and complex, polyphonic, digital synthesis with Hydrasynth. I oftenly make complex timbral sounds with digital synths that are hard to mix with other sounds of the same type. So the pairing between AR and Hydrasynth appears to be good. Only con is I find external inputs from Analog Rytm very weak and even with max master volume and max amp level, it can barely be heard with AR sounds (but I tend to put maximum overdrive everywhere on AR ) I’m a dirty girl
Hi there, I’m considering either the explorer or the desktop (after having had the original a few years ago).
I’ve got 2 questions :
on the explorer, you only have 4 macro knobs, but you can set up several pages, so basically more than 4 macros, right ?
can you reload the current preset by resending the corresponding Program Change ?
How fast is it to load presets via PC ? Can you automate them like crazy ?
And yes, that was 3 questions !
Edit :
Also, I noticed the lack of led rings on Macro knobs compared to the “original” version, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s really a bd thing… On the original, was is reflected by the whole led ring, the whole parameter range, or the macro range ?
I just did a test on my Desktop version. Placing 16 trigs (16 different PC on different Banks) on 1 bar at different BPM. From what I’m hearing, it seems to skip 1 or 2 PC.
Pretty bad from my tests with Explorer.
Need to anticipate PCs and silent to avoid bad artefacts.
4 encoders, but 8 macros.
Same audio engine and macros, mod matrix, but no long ribbon, no CV MOD inputs on Explorer. Mainly why I’d want a Desktop version (audio input as mod source).
Sound design is very probably more straight forward on 8 encoders versions, easy to imagine. Loopop’s video about Explorer / Deluxe explain well differences between different versions.
No pitch bend nor modwheel on Desktop.
I really enjoyed Explorer keys.
I’d want an Explorer Deluxe
I went for an Explorer. But didn’t think about 4 screens versus 8 for sound design. I’ll see in practice.
No way to get a snapshot of the 8 macros with a midi message (like cc61 on OT)?
Not sure you got what I’m talking about.
I’m looking for a way to reload the save state of a preset. A bit like « reload part » on OT.
Play, destroy, get back to normal.
I have written about that a couple times before, but the hitch is you need to touch each control to actually finish the process. I’ve looked around for a way to make them all snap back, there may be one, but haven’t found it yet.
Just an FYI, there is a value bar next to each parameter in the Explorer macro screens that takes the place of the light ring as well as a white dot that shows you the macro state as well. so you get the same visual feedback as you would from the controls of the larger models.
No the white bar on the side of each parameter is literally the same info as the led ring is what I am saying. Yes there are also the values displayed in digits but the bar is literally the info the light ring provides.
