iLoud MTM (the mk1 version) now down to £192 on Amazon UK if anyone’s interested.

Not sure how much better the mk2s are, but I’m very happy with these, having bought them last time the price dropped.

[edit in response to comment - this is the price for a single speaker; the usual weird monitor speaker pricing convention!]

I think that price is for an individual speaker, rather than a pair.

Still a good price! They are indeed great speakers for the size

I am almost tempted to buy one of these…
$399 Aussie dollary-doo’s is about $268USD or 245 euros…

Is factory refurbished better than buying second hand, did some one just change their mind?
Or is it poorly repaired, previously broken junk that will be an endless stream of problems?

Still, Id make money selling it as second hand.

Looks to be legit refurbished. If they back it with a guarantee/warranty, go for it. I sold my 2 for the 3 SA, but the 2 was a great and inexpensive (bought it used) way to get my feet wet in the Live/Push workflow. Absolutely worth that price!

Be wary of hydrolysis that Push 2 Controller suffers over time.

I always thought those rubberized surface coating and buttons absorbed oils from dirty hands/fingers? (when I used to race slot cars as a kid you could soften the tires and make them more sticky improving lap times by oiling the tires the night before, I always thought it had a similar tacky feel).

It is caused by water instead?

Since I am no chemist, please interpret as a fellow Elektronaut trying to tell you to watch out for “sticky” buttons. Hope that clarifies.

It’s caused by the plasticizers breaking down.
Heat and oils can speed up that process; but it’s an inevitability. It will happen to all soft-touch plastics eventually.

What can also happen is that it can outgas over time, and if it’s in a sealed container, it may be deposited back onto the surface, speeding up the process.

Since it’s a known problem - especially for parts that you are frequently touching (like the buttons on an Elektron box) - it’s irresponsible for companies to use that sort of finish.
And frankly I wonder if it’s done as a form of planned obsolescence.

Does sunlight have anything to do with it? I thought it did but no idea. Anyway the Push 2 is great and that’s a bargain! Mine did the sticky thing and ableton replaced it for a reasonable price

I’m sure it doesn’t help. I don’t know if UV exposure is directly linked, but it’s a bad thing for plastics in general.

EDIT: I still have not received the mixer (ordered yesterday) and I have received concerns about the site so I will hide the link and will update my experience if everything goes smoothly.

For the EU:

I was looking for a Model 1.4 and this shop ( that also sells on Amazon) had the lowest price on the market:

Summary

ALLEN & HEATH - PLAY DIFFERENTLY MODEL 1.4 in vendita su Global Audio Store - DJ Mixer

I went to browse the site and discovered that they are having a summer sale discount of 5%, which I applied to the Model 1.4.

In the end I am getting a new unit with three years warranty at 1.708 euros, when average prices I see in the EU are 1.999 euros and I cannot find a used one under 1.750.

You may check trustpilot or similar sites before ordering anything on global-audio-store. I did and ordered somewhere else. Some good experiences but also quite a lot of bad ones (regarding non-delivery and communication).

Thank you for your suggestion. I did check Trustpilot and I found contrasting reviews, the first were mostly positive coming from Italy but I see that people from many countries are complaining. I will edit the post and update my experience then. I hope everything turns out ok, luckily, I have paid with Paypal and can ask for a refund directly to them if anything goes wrong.

For better or worse I have gone for it and ordered a Push 2 (factory refurbished) for $399AUD delivered.

I figure I can return it in 30 days or sell it 2nd hand and not lose any money at Christmas if the coating gets to me. The current used local market is ~$470-920AUD at a quick glance, so trying to get price paid should be ballpark doable for some time. If I keep it longer then I’ll have my moneys worth out of it…

StoreDJ put 20+ units up online yesterday afternoon. Still 14 units left if anyone else is game.

I saw this too! Already have a Push2 that I’d got second hand for $500.

Insanely good deal IMO

I’m taking a careful look at my Jupiter Xm and Novation 61SL Mk3 that I haven’t touched much in the last year and doing my best to resist the GAS on a fantastic deal.

I don’t think I’m in the market for one now, but I finally got a price alert hit on the original OP-1 at Amazon UK, with a 40% discount (to £735).

I’m thinking they might actually be discontinued now, as I don’t see them listed on many of the big sites like Thomann anymore.

From reading around, they may be clearing stock before some EU rules kick in at the end of the year, because they still use a Mini USB jack rather than Type-C.
