In case anyone’s interested in a little sound design challenge. Does anyone have any ideas on how to recreate this sound on the Digitone?
(especially the mix of low and high pitch at 1min)
I love recreating sounds in general, but this one seems quite challenging.
Even from a scientific standpoint, it’s basically friction driven, but don`t know how to recreate that.
Any ideas?
Probably also a sound neighbours would love to hear in a loop 
friction usually means saw oscillator, raising tension until it suddenly releases, and repeat. cause of the way the drum membrane resonates, there will be a lot of inharmonic content, i would try detuning a second oscillator by ear, not to musical values, maybe some fm or crossmod… i also hear pitch movement, so a pitch envelope to emulate…

I was going to suggest torturing some sort of small ape… but this is a bit rude. And cuicas are awesome! I’ve played one, it’s definitely an instrument capable of conveying lots of “living” sounds.
I wouldn’t have the slightest idea of how to go about synthesizing that, but I’m following g this thread and I’m excited to see what people come up with, if it’s possible.
