How to prevent changing Part whenchanging pattern?

Hi there,

I noticed that changing pattern also has the effect to change the currently selected part.
As if the part selection was saved in the pattern, although I don’t see why it would be.

Can anyone explain this behavior ?
Is there any way to disable it ?

Regards,
David

Not exactly. By default, all patterns are assigned to Part 1.
There are 16 patterns and 4 parts per bank.

Some people pre-assign parts.
Pattern 1-4 : Part 1
Pattern 5-8 : Part 2
Pattern 9-12 : Part 3
Pattern 13-16 : Part 4

Sure but I had the idea that Parts were totally independant from patterns

So I was surprised when changing pattern also had the effect of changing my selected part

I couldn’t find anything about it in manual

“Each pattern is linked to a part”, pdf manual p. 52. If you don’t want to change parts when changing patterns, you should select the same part for both patterns.

I have to offer useless commentary but I read “wench charging” instead of “whenchanging” in the title.

ok, carry on.

I was uploading P52 screenshot.

@imacactus maybe you’re used to some other Elektron using “kits” differently…A4/AR with KIT RELOAD (IIRC).

There is no way to disable this behavior on OT.

It’s quite a misleading description in my opinion

Saying “Each part is linked to a pattern” would be more accurate

Don’t you think ?

No.

Parts are like kits. Programme some trigs; they’re played by the sounds defined by the Part/Kit.

No because it is not like that.

No, because Patterns are unique, Parts can be used by many Patterns (or none)
