It’s negative Playback Rate locked to scene B. You then need some sample triggers on the pattern or trig the sample by hand like in the video.
Thanx a lot !
I’ll try this out at home…

the notes on that video say they used an actual scratch sample
however, as cube48 said, you can achieve a “scratch” sound with playback speed…you can even assign an LFO to do it
True, sample of the scratch sound will make it more pronounced.
Just to clear it up, not a sample being scratched - but the typical samples people use for scratching.

These ones!
I trigger the sample using tracks or slices trig mode. Once held down the sample loops (standard loop or pipo works and is slightly different), then the crossfader controls rate. Left is fully reversed and right is normal.
Hitting the trig key and moving the crossfader over the middle point makes scratchy sounds. Sounds great! I can post detailed specs if you like, maybe even upload a project file if anyone’s interested.
Yes it would be very nice, if you could post detailed specs or/and a project.
THANX !!!
Ahh this stuff is reeeaaally fresh
Hey sorry it took me so long.
So here’s the bank, sample and sample settings file in a zip:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gxtc3qhbklcm7s1/Scratch%20Banks.zip?dl=0
It’s labelled bank 15 but you can rename it any number you have free in your project. The scratch track is track 6 (ignore everything else). To trigger it either use track trig mode and press the T6 button, or use the slices trig mode so you can press any trig button (you don’t want to wear a single one out!).
Enjoy!
New to the Elektron world. Trying to get the project by Hades into the Octa and running. How do I go about loading this thing. I tried creating a new project and dumping the files into it but I dont think thats what I need to do. Any help would be awesome.
My suggestion would be to just load up the “ahh” sample and try to configure the crossfader settings yourself.
Its the only way you will learn your Octa.
You should be able to copy the bank and samples directly to your project folder. Overwrite bank 15 with my files and put the sample and sample settings file in your audio folder.
When you’re done, load up bank 15 pattern 1 and select track 6. It ought to have the scratch file assigned, if not load it up.
Once it’s loaded make sure you’re not in record mode, and make sure you’re in either track-trig mode or slices mod (function up and down changes trig modes).
In track mode you can trigger the sample by hitting button 14 (T6). Move the crossfader left and right to create the scratching sound.
If you want to just load the sample up yourself - copy the sample and settings file to your audio folder. Load it up on any track you like and then assign each side of the crossfader scenes to -63 and +63 RATE. Trigger the sample as mentioned above and move the crossfader around!
Hope this helps.
