New DT user. So I want to use the DT to sequence my sub 37 and Summit synths.
I’m trying to sequence continuous chords. My thinking was that when I trigger midi note(s), I can set the trig length to a long time, and the next MIDI trigger will cancel the previous notes and trigger the new notes, just like playing on a real midi controller, synth keyboard would.
From what i can see, the DT by default does not cancel previous MIDI triggers and so I get a note soup of old triggers mixing with new triggers, with only a trig len parameter to play with, which is extremely tedious to program in accurately for anything except equal 4 bar chord patterns.
Is there a way to make midi triggers cancel previous triggers?
I didn’t even know about lock trigs yet! Much manual reading to be done…
Just so I understand, a lock trig doesnt trigger notes but will here send a stop signal to the synth? Do I need to set any parameters for this? (away from studio right now).
Out of interest, are your chords fewer than 4 notes?
Would that be why they linger- you have, for want of a better way of putting it, unused polyphony?
Yeah, I was just wondering if placing a “stop” trig with 4 notes, 0 velocity, min length before the next note would do the trick of canceling all 4 possible midi notes before the next one sounds.
It has to be the same notes, and lowest velocity is 1. 0 would have been interesting ! (And CCs above 119 too).
So @Nomad91 if you copy the playing trig and paste it after with shortest length, eventually velocity 1, it may do the job, depending on synth settings (velocity, attack, release, envelope reset, etc).
You can add a CC that lowers volume, combine with an lfo for fade out…
