Manipulating samples with OT often do cracklings at the start ( egdes
yes its the nature of sampling but in case its to much sometime
how DO you process with them ?
At what stagedo you handle them ?
in the OT samples éditor ?
after if you REC in your dow
with a plugin ?
Are you talking about slicing a sample ?
In which case, even with zero crossing option, you will sometimes get clicks. Usually, bringing the amp envelope attack to 1 or 2 fixes it. However, it might also be because each track is monophonic, and you might be cutting off a sample at a peak, from retrigging it while it’s still playing. In which case, you have to play with the hold and release parameters, until the sound is short enough to not “cut itself off” … it’s a bit difficult to explain, but I’m sure you get the idea. It is part of the nature of monophonic sample playback, unfortunately.
Hope this helps
i tend to do everything in the OT - sampling directly to it and cutting up in the internal editor. as for avoiding clicks i do the following:
if i’m recording a sequenced part say 4 bars in length (ie. a synth part i know is gonna run as a whole in my project) then i set the recorder fade in and fade out (2nd page of recorder settings, explained in one of elektron’s tutorial vids if im not mistaken).
if i sample from a turntable, i chop up the sample in the internal editor and hold function when scanning for sample start and end / loop start and end - this way the OT always sticks to zero crossings and therefore - no clicks.
finally, when there’s a complex sample-based sequence (say a part live played on slices) when it’s hard to control zero crossings, I just nudge the samples using microtiming. 9 times out of 10 it’s possible to get the slices to work without clicks and without messing up the timing too much.
plus you can always sample old vinyl and the clicks will just get lost in the crackle
