How to correctly insert the CF-card in the Octatrack MK2

Hi everyone

i just got an used OT MK2 yesterday. As I already read in this forum the CF Card slot can be a mess.

So i have a maybe pretty stupid question:

How to correctly insert the CF card in the slot. Nothing in the manual. I have a new Sandisk extreme 64 gb which arrived today.

How does the mechanism work. Does the little black button beside the slot has to be pushed or not when inserting? And when the card is in should the button come automatically out or not? I am asking, because it seems like it does not mpve automatically when i push the Card in. So i am hoping, that it is still ok and I did not mess it up already by trying

Also, the card is not formatted so far. Tried it to format it while in directly with the OT but no luck. Will get s card reader tomorrow and will format it as fat32 with a mac.

Hope someone can help.

The black button needs to be all the way in when inserting a new card. To remove a card, the button is pressed to extend it, then it is pushed back to push out the card.

If the card is inserted with the button extended, the button will stick out, and ideally that’s not preferred to avoid it breaking, bending, or being push to remove the card accidentally while in use. If the extended button is pushed back in while a card is inserted, it will push out the card.

How did you proceed ?

system > card tools > format …the following error occured:

"An error occured during format! Please try again.
‘Invalid State’

But this is now happemning after I tried formatted the card on a mac. as FAT.

When i start the Octatrack: tHis is the message: Insert compact flash. Even the compact flash is inside

Have you witnessed your used OT fully working before your purchase?

Yes. I know it worked properly!

works now as it should. Simply didn‘t push the CF card completely in. After reading too much about bended PINs. Thanks anyway guys!

How to correctly insert the CF-card in the Octatrack MK2 - SOLVED

That last little push got me on my first OT! All the talk of bent pins had me worried to be too forceful. Though having had a number of CF card cameras over the year, and NEVER having an issue with bent pins, I start to wonder how it ever happens tbh. Guess the slot can slow it to go in at an angle?!
