How to connect an external sound card to iPad. (Lifehack)

Hello friends,

I want to share a new life hack with you. The process of recording a Live Jam on video has always been daunting for me. You need to record the sound and video separately and then edit everything on a computer. I found a simpler way using the Rode Ai Micro to connect sound directly to a phone, but the audio quality was terrible and noisy because of grounding issues. However, yesterday I discovered an even better and simpler method: connecting my studio sound card to an iPad. Yes, it works!

Here’s the guide:

  1. Connect your sound card to the iPad.
  2. Ensure that the sound card is powered on and working (note that not all models may support this function; my SSL 2+ works perfectly).
  3. Open Final Cut Camera.
  4. In the sound settings, select your sound card.

Enjoy easy recording of your musical Live Jam with quality sound.

I hope this was helpful! Let’s connect!

Yeah using audio interfaces with the iPad is pretty cool! Very handy if you use iPad for music creation. The past 12 years I’ve been using audio interfaces with the iPad have been mostly smooth sailing. With the occasional hiccup of course, no different than my computers.

Get all your iPad mounts and cables managed and it is virtually the same experience.
