How to combine two projects

This is my first post, so please be kind.

I bought Syntakt at the beginning of this month and have been learning it.

If you know of an efficient way to combine two projects into one, please let me know.

NOW
There are 16 trucks in Bank A of Project 1. There is nothing else outside of Bank A.

There are 16 trucks in Bank A of Project 2. There is nothing else outside of Bank A.

How can I copy 16 tracks from Bank A of Project 2 to Bank B of Project 1? I’m having trouble figuring out how to transfer data between projects.

I WANT TO BELOW
I want to use overbridge or syntakt.app to merge Bank A and Bank B of Project 1 (the 16 tracks in Bank A of Project 2).

Please lend us your wisdom

You can’t easily do it … overbridge doesn’t do project management
There’s a tool written by 3rd party person for digitakt 1/2 which is the nearest thing there is to track / pattern / project management . Nothing exists for Syntakt …

You can try to load in your project , copy track/ pattern , load in project 2, select destination , paste track / pattern … but it’ll be time consuming and only possible 1 at a time

Overbridge is primarily multitrack audio streaming and sound editing / sound managing … not track or pattern or project management

Track / pattern and project management tools have long been requested … info can be found on elektron website regarding feature requests ( I don’t have the Email address atm )

You’ll have to copy/paste the tracks between projects one at a time.

It’ll be an annoying five minutes.

Thanks for the answers! Just to clarify: Does the clipboard persist across project loads? If I copy a pattern from Project 2, then load Project 1, will the paste still work?

Yes it will. It will only remember that one pattern with sounds, nothing more. If you’re copying several patterns, you need to go back and forth between the projects. Remember to save the project you’re copying to for each copy cycle (the Syntakt will ask if you want to save).

If you’ve used sound locks, it will only copy the sound lock slot, not the sound (the sound pool belongs to the whole project, not the pattern)

And welcome to the forum! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you so much, that’s exactly what I needed! Quick follow-up: Are P-Locks (parameter locks on individual trigs) preserved during this cross-project copy? And does this also work for the FX track settings?

Thank you both, re5et and Flekk!
@re5et — really appreciate the context about Overbridge’s scope and the community feature requests. That helps me understand the bigger picture.
@Flekk — haha, “five minutes” of annoying work, got it! Better than re-building everything from scratch.
I’ll try the manual copy/paste approach this weekend. Thanks again

Absolutely. Everything stored in the pattern is copied over. Sequencer data, sound data, everything.

The only exception is sound locks, like I mentioned they are part of the project, not the pattern.

@re5et and the helpful follow-up — thank you both for confirming everything!
Just to fully summarize for future readers:
What gets copied between projects via pattern copy/paste:
:white_check_mark: Sequencer data (trigs, notes, lengths)
:white_check_mark: Sound data (per-track sound settings)
:white_check_mark: P-Locks
:white_check_mark: FX track settings
What does NOT get copied:
:x: Sound Lock references (since the sound pool is project-specific)
This is exactly what I needed to know. Time to merge my projects! Thanks again everyone
