How many Elektron machines did Cenk convince you to buy?

Agreed. That first track made me buy the A4.

Digitakt, Tone and Octa

Digitakt was the leap into elektron and it was the sampling and midi demos he had for those that got me excited, and I lost my shit when the digitone came out with the previews because that same week I was all, wouldn’t it be cool if they came out with a style similar to digitakt but with fm and I was really getting into fm sounds, and bam there they are with it. Never got it though. I have a preen…for now

Only one Elektron product: the AR MKI. I sold it a few months later, due to a lack of use and regretted it soon afterwards.

With that said, I am presently a happy owner of the AR MKII, and other Elektron products.

I feel like an ass, but this week was the first that I’ve heard of him and I own three Elektron products, but admittedly I’m not very good yet. I watched a video today and he seems extremely talented. I can’t wait to catch up on the History of Elektron and to see what comes next.

4… DN/OT/A4/AH heh

The DN experience was an immediate “my first elektron will be this…” after watching some @Eaves of course :upside_down_face:

Pretty much all of them with the exception of the Heat (Cuckoo’s video with the combo of Heat and Continuum sold me on that one). In fact, one of Cenk’s Digitakt videos also prompted my interest in Polyend Percs - of which I now own a total of four.

I’ve been thinking alot about my early days with the Elektrons lately, not sure why but been reflecting on the whole process and some of the things that got me excited/motivated to get into music production in the first place.

A big part i realized was Dataline’s demo/performance videos. Holy crap were they inspiring and quite impressive to hear how expressive an Elektron box can be in the right hands. Not sure if this has been done before, but please delete if so. Here are probably the 3 videos that motivated me the most to grab an Elektron box. they are all from the same time frame around when A4 was released. I believe this was quite a special time for me and many other Elektronauts, hope this sparks some nostalgia.

There’s way more, if you care to share some of your favourite Dataline pieces please do

Thanks for all your work, new and old Elektron staff. still my favourite music technology company

The man truly has a gift for making Elektron boxes sing.

One of the first I saw when I almost bought a mnm but I was still a little scared of Elektron back then.

I used to watch the Max Marco and early cukoo tutorials because they were easy to understand and I was starting to become ocd about wanting to dip my feet into the Elektron world, I remember the cukoo vs dataline video series at namm '15 was the second time I really took note of Dataline. All the jams are dope, I just picked one.

Still afraid of the OT to this day, the Digitakt video that finally made me cross over to the dark side was also dataline.

and a recent heater that highlights just how hard you can work one box if you understand it.

Good topic, I’m a fan!

the only thing that ever mattered … because of Cenk I’m up to 2 digis, 2 model samples, and 1 cycles

I never understood how any SP user could watch this video and not buy an Digitakt…
it’s literally what the SP has been trying to do since day one

I love the look on the face of a guy who’s trying to play it cool but knows that he’s about to melt your fucking face off.

I bought one back then. Was getting back into sampling after having sold an MPC1000 and was deciding between DT and MPC Live, which came out at the same time.

I wouldn’t own any elektrons If I had bought a macbook from the start instead of fucking windows machines and bullshit OS nonsense, and constant updates.

Turn it on, and it just works. Octatrack.

yes.

and to be fair I’ve always loved the SPs for the most part, just after the digitakt the spmk2s leave me wanting.

It was actually substan, who convinced me to finally get an Elektron (first DT, then DN). I was a bit late to the Elektron game for cenk, but I watched quite a few of his videos and he was great presenter. His jams with OT were almost too good lol, he’s really skilled and superfast with it.
