How do you prepare samples Slot Lists for long sets?

Hi there,

I have a 1h gig comming up soon where I plan to do 30min of House then 30min of Techno.

All good so far, except right now they both live in different Octatrack projects + Loading a project stops playback on the Octatrack; which should not happen during my performance.

I can regroup them both into a single project using bank A for House and bank B for Techno.

But the issue is that they require different kind of samples:

  • For the House set, I need
    • A lot of chord loops, so they live in the Static Slot List
    • Very long vocal phrases to chop and mess with, so they live in the Flex Slot List
  • For the Techno set, I need
    • One-shot samples to appear in Slot Trig Mode, so they have to live in the Static Slot List
    • Ambiance loops to not appear in Slot Trig Mode (to avoid confusion with one-shots), so they have to live in Flex Slot List

How would you arrange all samples for both sets to live in the same project but avoid any confusion during live performance while selecting and using samples ?

Regards,
David

That was the main reason why i opted for the Microcosm as a send FX since it has a looper.

Yeah EZBot is using something similar for the same reason now (Korg Kaoss Replay) but I don’t really want to solve this issue by adding yet one more machine to my setup ^^

I may just give up on playing the Techno part and stick with playing on the House project for the whole thing
