I am relatively new to the DT2 but this doesn’t seem like expected behaviour. If I long press FUNC it opens up the Preset Menu?
So if I am deciding on what secondary function to use, if I pause, the Preset Menu opens?
No idea, will have to check it when I’m home. Just upgraded to the. MK2 and I find opening the preset menu not very quick as it used to be in the OG where I just double click on the track and it opened the present menu…

It sounds as if the Level/Data encoder is not stable (func+data=preset pool). I had the same issue and got it fixed by elektron. You can run your machine on test mode to see if the encoder is wobbly.

Yes, this is the issue. I diagnosed it by going into Test Mode, the Level/Data was sending info. The issue previously happened immediately. After spending some time wiggling the Level/Data encoder, the issue happens a lot less often, but occasionally happens. I have contacted Elektron support.
