Setup some aftertouch on your pads. Start your sequencer. Press and hold a pad to trigger the aftertouch. While continuing to press the pad, hit RETRIG. Let go of RETRIG. THEN let lift your finger off the pad. Notice your aftertouch is locked! This is wonderful. You can even use RETRIG and it maintains the locked setting!
To unlock, just hit the pad.
Sick.
Edit: This even works with PERFORMANCE mode! And, it’s much nicer than locking the PERFORMANCE mode the old way above.
I’m reviving my #ARTIP marker so I can collate these little nuggets ^
All handy to have in the kit bag
Exiting perf mode by tapping perf mode feels more elegant, but the retrig trick is nice and accessible, tiny bit fiddly, like the Latched Fill combo, easy with practice and muscle memory to get it instantaneous
New tip: You can lock RETRIG like someone said above, but instead you can do it by holding RETRIG + PAD and then hitting TRACK. Way more ergonomic.
This next one is absolutely bananas: If you lock RETRIG as above and then go into PERFORMANCE mode, you can mute the RETRIGed pad by pressing RETRIG + PAD. To bring it back, you can hit RETRIG + PAD + TRACK as described above.
This is insane.
All of this combined with the AFTERTOUCH locks and fills is like a whole new drum machine!
Edit: In addition to muting and unmuting RETRIG in PERFORMANCE mode as described above, if you have enabled RETRIG as described above, you can momentarily trigger RETRIG in PERFORMANCE MODE by hitting RETRIG + PAD. It’s like a PERFORMANCE mode within PERFORMANCE mode.

The beauty of this RETRIG thing (with respect to PERFORMANCE MODE locking) is you don’t have to exit/re-enter PERFORMANCE MODE to lock the performance setting.
Hey, sorry for bumping this old thread. I was just experimenting with some performance macros and noticed the feature as described in No2. How I end up using it: I hold several performance keys at the same time and arrive to sound that I like to lock. Then press the Scene button and move to the Scene page. The macros remain locked and I can change the scene, etc to change the sound further. Then I go back to Perf page and the Macros are still locked and I could for example press another macro, while the other remain locked and reach a new sound setting I like to lock and then press Scene again. I think this is super super cool. I hope it is not something like an unintended bug and someone decides to ‘fix’ it in a future release of the OS. If any elektron people are reading this, please make note. Cheers, Val!
With micro timing, I was using the arrows function to shift micro timing per step but then turned a knob, and I realised you can change the micro timing faster with any knob. Probally obvious but…it’s much more fluid for the funk.
