Help using synth as midi and audio in

With the new Digitakt update I am planning to lower my setup’s footprint by getting rid of mixer and keystep. What I want to do is use my Microfreak as a midi controller (goodbye Keystep) and as audio in through the Digitakt (goodbye mixer). What I’m having trouble with is how to stop the Microfreak from triggering the Digitakt samples when I hit the keys (when I don’t want it to). I want to be able to play the Freak on its own, but also use it to play the Digitakt sounds. Does this make sense, and is there an easy fix?

*I might be making no sense. My Microfreak is triggering the BD on Digitakt track 1 when I’m just trying to record midi on track 9. Matter of fact, it’s triggering track 1 no matter what track I choose. Any way to fix this other than turning off “receive notes”?

I would say you need to parameter your microfreak (via Arturia software) and your Digitakt (via midi config) so that the midi out channel of the Microfreak = the auto channel of the Digitakt, then your microfreak will trigger the currently selected track of the Digitakt

Thank you! I will fiddle with this when I get home.

Hey thanks again, this worked for the most part. The Microfreak is still fiddly with midi I think, like the arp/sequencer sometimes doesn’t play. Just the nature of the Freak I guess

An Arp needs a Clock to operate. Make sure the Digitakt plays. If the Digitakt is stopped, you won’t be able to use the MF’s Arp unless MF uses its Internal Clock.

I’m assuming that DT sends the Clock.
