HELP - Issue using Analog Heat App

Hi all,
I am trying to use the Analog Heat App to access the recorder so as to bypass my DAW to record a stereo out of Analog Heat Mk2.
I have a basic setup where my modular goes into OT and then OT to FMR RNC which goes into AH.
AH in OB mode: I get a strange feedback loop when opening the App.
Not using OB as a VST in my DAW. just stand alone App.
Could anyone help me in setting up the parameters in AH?

From the manual:

  • AUTO In AUTO mode, Analog Heat MKII automatically detects if the Overbridge plugin is running or not. With Overbridge running, the Analog In is not routed through the effect to the Analog Out. (Same as OFF setting.) If Overbridge is not running, the signal from Analog In is routed through the Analog Heat MKII’s FX to the Analog Out. (Same as the IN+OUT setting.)
  • IN+OUT Both Analog In and Analog Out are routed to the Analog Heat MKII’s FX.
  • IN Routes the signal from Analog In to the Analog Heat MKII’s FX.
  • OUT Routes the signal from the e ect to Analog Out.
  • OFF Neither Analog In nor Analog Out are routed to the Analog Heat MKII’s FX.

Many thanks for any hint

Edit:
Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6
OB version 2.1.5
AH version 1.21C

Crazy no one answered this question. I have the same problem. Digitakt II left/right into Analog Heat +FX. As soon as I turn on the standalone Overbridge App for Heat, it picks up every noise in my room, like it hears my mouse clicks, and if I talk it pics up my voice and creates a wild feedback loop. I don’t even have a mic hooked up, so I have no idea how it is picking up room sounds. Super annoying.

I finally found the cause of a very strange feedback/monitoring issue with my Analog Heat +FX on macOS, so I’m posting the solution in case it helps someone else.

Symptoms:

- Analog Heat +FX was in Overbridge mode.
- Reaper was completely closed.
- All analog inputs to the Heat were disconnected.
- FX Send meters in Overbridge were still showing activity.
- I could literally see the FX Send meters react when typing on my keyboard or making noise in the room.
- A strange “wind”, “whooshing” or feedback-like sound was present through my monitoring chain.

I spent hours checking cables, mixer routing, USB routing, Overbridge settings, and even my external hardware chain.

The actual cause was much simpler:

On macOS, the application “Analog Heat +FX.app” had permission to access the system microphone.

To fix it:

1. Open System Settings.
2. Go to Privacy & Security.
3. Select Microphone.
4. Find “Analog Heat +FX.app”.
5. Disable microphone access for the application.
6. Restart Overbridge Engine.

As soon as I disabled microphone access, the problem disappeared completely.

Interestingly, changing the default audio input device in macOS did NOT solve the issue. The feedback/monitoring behavior only stopped after removing microphone permission from Analog Heat +FX.app.

In my case:
- Overbridge Engine stopped receiving environmental sounds.
- FX Send meters became quiet when no audio was being sent.
- The feedback-like noise disappeared completely.

Hopefully this helps someone in the future, because the issue looks like a hardware routing problem at first, but it was actually caused by microphone permissions in macOS.

Hi
Thanks for taking the time.
Had given up on using my AH Mk2 in OB mode with the App as the whining sound (feedback) was a BIG issue…
Now my question is: I am not able to reach steps 3 and 4 of your explanation/solution… Does the app have to be opened and AH connected in OB mode to yeld the results?

Hi again.
** Just a clarification: for Overbridge to work correctly, the Analog Heat application must not have permission to access the system’s default microphone. In some cases, granting microphone access can cause audio feedback, routing conflicts, or other unexpected behavior.

If you don’t see the Analog Heat app listed under Microphone permissions, that’s actually a good sign. The important thing is to make sure that if the app does appear there, microphone access is disabled. Overbridge does not require access to a physical microphone to communicate with the device.

I’d recommend checking all audio/privacy settings and ensuring that Analog Heat is not allowed to use the system microphone.**
