I also want your solution! Was thinking of replacing mine with something else as it’s so annoying and replacing bits only temporarily fixed it!
I have an eye on the IE 100 pro as well
My HD25 needs a new cable, and they’re too big to carry around with the M8
Can’t decide if the upgrade to the Bluetooth model would make more sense!? They could be used with a phone/iPad in some situations.
Has any idea of you the Bluetooth model?
Do you get tired of (un)attaching the cable? (For use with M8 <> phone)?
Thanks
Just a different opinion regarding the enthusiasm about the Sennheiser IE 100 pro:
I ordered them and find them totally underwhelming.
I find bass is non-existent, which makes it impossible for me to make music with the M8.
I had much better sound in the past with much cheaper IEM’s (can’t remember the brand, was it JBL? I had so many…)
I don’t expect much from IEM’s in general, but these ones are clearly not the best I’ve had, especially considering the price.
Hey @Omar , i dont know if youve seen audiosciencereviews website and the headphone analyses on there, but it is a really really good resource. The founder and main contributor, amirm, is just a retired microsoft engineer and listens to and reviews headphones from thousands of dollars to 10s of dollars.
There’s a voting system as well for each product reviewed, so other forumites actively participate in the review process.
Long story short: truthear, linsoul and some other chinese brands make $20 headphones that he considers rivals to the best of the best headphones on the planet. It sounds impossible but i must say i have tried and bought headphones on his recommended list, and also heard headphones he doesnt recommend and his reviews match what i hear.
I bought some 7hz crinacle zero:2 to compare and they are really really good. The forum has 2k+ posts discussing them and almost everyone in there is stunned.
He recently reviewed a new pair, truthear GATE and theyre all loving those. Im going to buy some because i gave away now 3 pairs of the crinacle zero:2
Anyways, long post but here’s the headphone review section if you care to peruse:
Hey, thanks a lot for the link!
I should have made some research before going for the IE 100 Pro, indeed.
But I always tend to trust first-hand experience from the good people here. Although I understand it’s bound to be subjective.
Hi Omar,
As i recommended the ie 100, i feel the need to respond.
Regarding the bass is not the greatest on the ie100 as i told before. Its also important to use good plugs and put the iem deeper in the ear to hear a better bass.
I can also tell you that i bought lots of cheap chinese hi fi iems. For me, i dont get that hype. Very overrated. Its fake eq boosted ( hence why the collabs with sound influencers like crinacle are done there, when you watch his channel its obvious ). So of course they will sound better in the low and mid. Ergonomics are also not the greatest. Some even smell.
These chinese iems are great for consumers for listening to music. A good monitor iem has a flat eq response. If i want hard sound of hard bass, i would not even consider an iem, but sennheiser open back headphones.
Anyways, good luck on the journey
Sure, I understand my post might have seemed targeted against people who are happy with these IEM’s. Sorry, that was not my intention to make anyone feel ‘guilty’ or something. I just wanted to give another opinion. On the understanding that mine is no less subjective than yours.
Do you think the bass is not loud enough or doesn‘t go deep enough? From my perspective I could understand „quiet“ bass, but I feel they go really deep and it seems to be very linear as well.
If you don‘t get any bass, maybe they don‘t fit your ears well. Either way I hope you can get a refund, that‘s not an amount of money I would have liked to spend on something I can‘t really use.
I hear very little bass, as if there was a low cut filter.
I did try to reposition them a bit into my ear, but to no avail.
On the positive side, the high frequencies are very sharp and detailed, by contrast.
I don’t know, I got them from Thomann, maybe I’ll send them back indeed.
it wildly depends on the fit. if you dont get a good seal in the ear then I agree the bass is rubbish. if you get a good fit, they sound excellent. actually, the first time I put them in I wasnt paying attention and put them in the wrong ears and then there really isn’t any bass at all.
should be no problem, I got cheaper ones from Thomann first and sent them back when I bought these.
Been using the HD490 recently …
I reckon they are pretty good !
V. Comfy , soundstage is nice , and great bass for open backs.
A true improvement over the 58X that I was using before .
Also have a pair of M50 things and they are acceptable . For me comfort makes a huge difference, and in the subjective sense the vibes are just way better in the HD490.
IDGAF about producing sweet mixes , just enjoyment of the process of making and listening to sound
After testing out all of the usual suspects, including Focal Clear, Audeze LCD-X and MM500, Ive decided to buy Neumann NDH-20 and NDH-30. Imo these are the best headphones for music production atm. The best sounding ones were MM-500! Unreal performance! But everything sounded too good on them, even the tracks i know are badly mixed and i couldn’t judge what to change about the sound, i mean i could, more easily than with anything else but not as easy as with the NDH-30! And they’re the flattest ones of the bunch to my ears.
tl:dr - Neumann NDH-30 are simply the best headphones for music production atm… IMO
I use lcdx for few years now with some eq to flatten them out. Love them to death
I wanted MM-500s but ended up with Focal Lensys and I’m quite happy with them. It was mostly a combination of cost and functionality that lead me to them over the MM500s - as much as I would love to have mm500s one day they would pretty much be dedicated studio headphones. I need closed-back the vast majority of the time (recording acoustics and loud amps for work, working on planes or in moving vehicles, battling a nearby AC unit in the home studio)…
Great response across the board, I can hear everything coming out of my instruments or the music I’m listening to. Blocks out background quite well, but they have a wider field that I wouldn’t expect from closed back headphones. I can hear subs and reasonably (for headphones) assess a mix.
They certainly have a sound, but I find the sound very pleasant, while being accurate enough to make critical decisions until I can get back to proper monitor speakers.
