Hey everyone,
Any recommendations for headphones? Based on sound quality first and foremost! But something that feels comfortable and isn’t too fatiguing on the ears. Need a nice travel companion while I take my machines away for a month, I also need a good pair of reference headphones for the studio so if I can kill two birds with one stone for a reasonable price then that would be great

i am very happy with this one

SRH1840.
If anyone is looking at new cans, the Shure SRH1840’s are the best I’ve ever used, so comfy and non-fatiguing. They have a very easy natural sound, detailed but not overly bright. Great ear warmers too.
Sonarworks reference 4 plus any headphones of your liking; I own both the budget Phillips SHP9500 (can use with phone also 32 Ohm )and Beyer Dynamic DT 880 pro. They both come to live with this software.
If you want best quality possible buy a pair of headphones individually calibrated by them

hi all, which headphones would you recommend?
Around or under 500 pounds
Use at home only with qu 24 mixing desk
Producing music with analog synths
I want them to be transparent - ish so I have half a chance when trying to mix and master, but to contradict this I want them exciting enough to use for long periods of time and to enjoy writing with.
Comfort is important for this same reason
Moved back in with parents, used to be able to blast Adams a7x but cannot do that here. I enjoyed the a7x
I like the idea of detail
I like bass and lush reverbed pads contradicting each other
I probably use to much reverb as it got a bit lost in the mids with a7x , due to me being far from an expert
Any friendly recommendations?

I use a pair of AKG K712 and I like them but if I was to buy a new pair I would go for the beyerdynamic DT-1990 Pro which are supposed to be excellent.
Add cheap ones like from Superlux to have a broader range to compare Sounds.
Do you find that revealing Pulsn? I once found that my snares were much too sharp from listening with Apples basic headphones 
You should try beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro. There are (i think) 3 versions with different impedances for special usecases. I really like the ones with 250 Ohm for mixing. They are fantastic…

For comfort and a nice listen I just bought sennheiser hd 598 se. Used them on my iPad with aum and they sound great, not sure if they good enough for top notch mixing but good enough for me. They discontinued now but I got a new pair on eBay.
Yeah I’m actually thinking about finally getting the beyerdynamic DT-1990 Pro myself now.
If anyone have tried both these and the AKG K712, let me know.
770 not only sound good, but also are built like tank.
my mates who work in TV/entertainment love 770 because they survive anything.
After having read up on an older thread that I started on GS I’m not sure about the beyerdynamics. People are not that happy with them and according to the frequency charts I would not call them a reference headphone with those big peaks in the treble region.
They are probably pretty good but hardly worth an upgrade from the AKG’s.
