Just wondering if its as drastic as it seems?

Shame, I bought from the London branches, both in-store and online and always had a great service.
I live in Balham and visited all the time. Bloody shame, it was my favourite place way to browse new synth gear.
Bought from them all the time too, I snagged an El Capistan just the other week.
They did have quite strange opening hours though - they’d close at 6 on weekdays and wouldn’t open Sunday. Wonder if that played a part in their demise?
Either way, I’m pretty gutted.
Blimey, gutted for the good folk working there - Cenk will be gutted too no doubt for his old buddies from his time working there in Edinburgh - and they had no real local competition (tech wise) either, tough times on the high street
No way! Love popping in to the Edinburgh store.
They expanded a little recently and wonder if that’s toppled them. Real shame.
Heh, I bet they seemed pretty reasonable for the staff
Oh, that’s a shame. I bought a Mininova from the Clapham branch. It was a little bit inconvenient to just go there to browse and impulse buy I guess, since one had to sign in to the building.
Not that any high street shops are doing well these days…
I think they moved to new place since then , south Clapham I think.
They had. a wide range of stuff , prices were fine but I personally mostly buy 2nd hand these days.
Shame. Feel bad for the staff.
The shop I went to was in the same building as some type of music school (or something). Had to sign in and then walk up stairs to the shop. In some posh-ish part of Clapham with nice little cafes and shops like that.
Yup
They then moved
Then went into admin .
Not great news but lots of retail is struggling .
Yeah, Turnkey went a few years ago too. That used to be the place to go if one had a few hours to kill in London.
that’s a shame indeed…
Yep bricks and mortar ain’t what it used to be unfortunately
Overheads are ridiculous and everyone shops online
Coffee shop is the go these days
That was Digital Village.
Were was that located? I assume around Denmark street too?
turnkey was charing x road , currently a chipotle franchise.
red dog had a ‘thing’ in denmark street , i was never sure if it was a store or not … far too dark to see inside , i’d only been in there for a ableton demo night.considering i buy synths their store was ideal for me , but always seemed like i should just pass by.
cant remember digital village being in central london.wasnt that north london… ? … not that it matters now everything has free shipping.
the most central stores atm are westend dj (prices are not very competitive) , juno in camden , wunjo on denmark street have a few things (and seemingly a dress code of 70’s flares , long hair etc) … friendly people but prices dont compare with online / juno .
i suspect guitars and wind instruments are better for street retail , people like to hold/play them .
Didn’t you go there?
That was Digital Village.
No longer with us, as such.
Part of the Musicstore.de
