i‘ve noticed this aswell and thx to this forum for bringing up some similarities🌳 and yes, it’s often flawless but sometimes really arguing with the wrongest of words to destroy any flow in messaging.
Definitely getting worse on my android phone, but then my fingers are getting more and more sausagey, so it could be user error…

Many apps in the world use the same libraries. For example a bit old Lucene for full text search or so. Could be some shared provider went wrong.

It’s never been good. I type in three languages and it’s always been a mess in all of them. Sucks.

Its definitely all this. We are no in the “training the language model” phase of interconnectivity… in 5 years, it will be great again, just as it becomes obsolete, and then we have to battle something else to train up

While autocorrect is largely shit, while searching for a new battery for my Dyson vacuum, when I type in the model name “motorhead” it assumes I’m talking about the band and wants to add the umlaut for me. That’s pretty cool I guess. (RIP Lemmy).

It does this a lot with brands. If a famous person or band or product happens to have a name that is the same as a word I’m typing or very similar to a word I’m typing it will correct to the brand. I truly hate it.

I still use a rather compact phone where öettersnlike (that’s what my autorrect made of „letters like“, no idea if this is a word in any language) i and o are quite close to each other, which will often cause me to write wrong stuff. I appreciate there is a function that fixes this for me. Just make it work again. I hate how more and more things that have already been solved are turning into bullshit because of new solutions to invented problems that don’t even exist.
