Has anyone made a USB midi controller that acts as usb host?

Has anyone made a USB midi controller that acts as usb host?

This seems like an obvious massive win.

Almost every groovebox or synth module acts as USB device.

Plugging in a USB only device requires palaver with things like retrofits rk006.

Surely a midi controller that worked as USB host would sell by the container load?

Especially if it also pushed power over USB, and had an internal battery.

push 3 is a very expensive option for that. I think mpc live / mpc one as well, might be mistaken about mpc, it’s also much more than just a midi controller.

My doreimidi usb midi host was like 30 bucks, doesn’t bother me that much. paying 120 for the kenton one would bother me though. and yes, it would be convenient if my keystep pro was a usb host, honestly for that price I can’t understand why it’s not.

Intech Studio Grid controllers plus their Knot USB host? No internal power / battery though.

The modern MPCs can do this.

Cheers!

Electra One has a USB Host port.

I had issues with one of these (but I’ve found other doremidi devices to be rock solid).

Overall USB MIDI still can have some issues even with class compliant devices due to how they advertise their devices to the Host which isn’t an issue for 5 pin.
