As the title says, what are the options for hardware multi-FX with configurable macros?
Sorry to be a boring git, but as always, I’m going to recommend the Virus. Great effects and macros (on TI, Polar and Snow models). Can create presets designed for manipulating audio. If you’re after analogue effects it may not be your cup of tea.
Oh and you get a bloody brilliant synthesiser with it as well.
Edit: Oh, the Line 6 HX Stomp is a fantastic multi-effect with two stereo inputs/outputs, MIDI, flexible routing (parallel and series) and some of the best efforts out there including IRs and amp models as well as great reverbs, delays,.modulation, pitch shifting and so much more.
The Mod Duo pedals give you a flexible playground to build whatever effects chain you want by connecting modules in the web editor. They have virtual-CV modules internally and midi to CV converters, and you can use those to build arbitrarily complex macro controls for effects. They’re not perfect, but it’s the most flexible non-DAW environment I’m aware of.
Octatrack could certainly fit the bill, though obviously it might be considered overkill. Thru and neighbour tracks, scenes, parts, banks plus the ability to sequence effects with p-locks.
Empress ZOIA? You build your patch, with whatever FX you want up to the limit of the processor, setup whatever macros you want to whatever MIDI CCs you want.
It’s the ultimate multi-FX with programmable macros in my mind
another one for the pile … https://www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=P0D9M
Line 6 HX Stomp… not the most hip device out there, but it’s a monster and has great macro options. It also has snapshots that are great for storing different settings within your preset… max out your delay feedback with a touch of a button, touch another one to get it back normal, etc.
A left field suggestion- Arturia MiniFreak.
It has an audio input and 3 FX slots that can be fully controlled by Macros on its strips.
So, 3 Fx slots plus the ability to process your order through some of its Synth Engines. Powerful stuff.
Why would you want a hardware multiFX with protein, fats and carbs?
