Hardware MIDI Monitor?

What is out there for a low cost, and compact hardware MIDI monitor with LCD display?
Wanting to plug it into my MioXL (usb or DIN) and have continuous, non computer dependent
monitoring of all MIDI traffic going through the hub.
Extra points if it also displays a counter for beats and bars.

Maybe check out the MIDIpal.

Came here to say this. Easily worth their cost. I recommend to anybody who uses midi a lot.

I know you asked for hardware. but in the meantime, if you haven’t, you should check out Midi Monitor if you use a Mac. looks like Midi View is a good Windows alternative (haven’t tried it).

for all the times I need to actually troubleshoot midi, Midi Monitor gives me plenty of data and filtering options to hunt down problems. I don’t need to see it for regular use though, so I don’t mind that it’s on the computer.

Thanks for the good suggestions. Seems like midipal/midigal are a bit overkill in function for the purpose? Already have a blokas midihub for MIDI manipulation…
Also be nice to see a bit more overview than one line of data.

I downloaded MIDI Scope for IOS, and that works pretty slick on my old ipad mini. Does bluetooth MIDI also.Maybe this is the way to go… Still preferring the idea of a smaller module that lives connected to my interface… Hmm, old worn out iphone perhaps

ShowMIDI is also a great MIDI monitor app.

Check out Blokas Midiboy, running the MIDIMon sketch. It has a larger display than the MIDI Pal.

Just to update, I ended up just using my old ipad mini for the task. Running Midi Scope, or ShowMidi, depending on what I want to have as a reference. Old iphone would probably be adequate as well.
CME USB/DIN mini interface for connection to MioXL. Might be arsed to switch the connection to RTP network midi at some point. Serves the purpose for now.
Pic shows sysex from Evolver programs loading to editor.
