Hi,
i would like to know how to connect my gears with midi.
I think many people have this kind of setup.
1- I want to control my synth (sh32) and the mBase from the master keyboard AND the octatrack.
2- I would like to record the notes on the midi of my octatrack and then listenning to the octatrack playing the note with the sound from the synth or the mbase. In this way, i can correct or adjust my triggers or use the cute off of my synth directly from the octatrack (after saving the CC…).
My setup is:
OCTATRACK (sampler/sEquencer) (IN,OUT,THRU)
CLAVIER MAITRE (novation impulse 49) (IN,OUT)
ROLAND SH32 (synth) (IN,OUT)
MBASE 11 (analog sound module) (IN,OUT)
You don’t need to change parameters. Clock send is off already, otherwise the MBase would make trouble.
Plug the masterkeyboard into the OT and assign it to channel 11. Set different Midi channels for your modules in your modules (10 and 12, for instance). Plug the Midi Box into the OT’s out and the modules into the outs of that box. Go to the OT’s Midi tracks and choose ch 10 in one track, 12 in another. When playing notes on the keyboard, you should now be hearing the module corresponding to the currently selected Midi track playing notes.
Thanx for your response!
Sorry for my questions, but why the channel 11?
My master keyboard work if it’s the same channel as the track (10 and 12, for instance), maybe there is something wrong here?
When playing note, nothing happen on both tracks.
If i change OUT of the OT to the THRU of the OT, i can play on my masterK the sh32 and the mBase but, i can’t listen to something from the sequencer hitself of the OT (trigs, chromatics mode). I hope you understand my words.
Hello/bonjour virgil4,
You asked again on a separate thread how to use the MIDI CONTROL settings of the Octatrack for your set-up.
In case you haven’t found it in the manual, the basic reference information for these controls is given on pages 41 and 42 of the Octatrack manual. ‘Project’ menu / MIDI / CONTROL
I will assume that you have:
the MIDI OUT of your master keyboard connected to the MIDI IN of the Octatrack,
the MIDI OUT of your Octatrack connected to a MIDI IN on the MIDIMAN “Thru box”, and
MIDI OUTs from the “Thru box” connected to the MIDI INs of both the SH32 and the MBASE11.
The four settings on the page are: AUDIO CC IN: If you are only using the MIDI sequencer function of the Octatrack and not the sample tracks, this setting will not affect anything. If you want the MIDI controllers on your master keyboard to control the sample tracks, you should enable this setting. AUDIO CC OUT: If you do not want the knobs for the audio tracks to send out MIDI information, select the INT option for this setting. AUDIO NOTE IN: Do you want MIDI notes from your master keyboard to affect the audio tracks on the Octatrack? If not, then disable this setting. AUDIO NOTE OUT: Do you want the Octatrack’s TRIG keys to send MIDI notes to the internal Octatrack tracks, to your external synths, or to both? Select INT, EXT, or INT+EXT according to your wishes.
A bit late to response, but i want to say thank you, everything work well but only between my OT, SH32 & my Mbase. I just need to buy another midi box to setup everything perfectly. It’s so magic when you start to play on your synth and you see your OT changing the value of the button :-). And to have 2 or 3 different sounds from the same synth/channel, thx to elektron and the P.lock.
Now, i undertand aswell the need of a big multitimbral synth.
