Hapax vs Force as sequencer

Why not use oxi one sequencer and force?

I don t have them both.

I hear people saying that somehow when they zoom in a chord in Hapax… most of the time the notes are not aligned vertically.

When they zoom in a chord in Hapax played live… do u have botes aligned vertucally if u zoom in?

I didnt use chords as of now, i mostly use a chord midi fx, and then play single notes to trigger the chord, it has a specific chord mode, where you could trigger inversions, spreads and substitutes though, i should use that soon, only have it for two weeks, but already feels that i can record the output of my synth, as you can record automations, like you would in abelton live.

Also the follow harmony track 16 is very useful, really cool feature, you could compose quickly with that, as the other tracls can follow it. If youre into hw, its the best sequencer today.

The problem with chord from effects is that it keeps the same interval if you know what I mean.
I feel that somehow, elektron sequencer is more direct. Maybe I am wrong.

It is very direct - it is very haptic, you should check out the chord mode in the manual, or via youtube videos, it is very practical - it can also do mpe, or act as a midi looper.
Also you could modulate the interval, as you could LFO the midi FX.

Yes, if I just forget about my master keyboard and do everythong from buttons, but I guess not my cup of tea.
I feel I have more control doing chords directly on my kbd.
Hapax feels like more suited for generative music and for the price I still feel Force is over it. (for me)

Actually its quiete the opposite -Oxi is more for generative music, Hapax is more a supportive player /recorder. Geared more to traditional song structure.

I am not saying it’s not, just my feeling.

I feel the hapax is in a way a lot similar to Abelton Lives midi clip structure, but more hands on - and many confirmed this - if you are familar with Abelton Live, you would be familar with hapax.

So I’ve had a Pyramid, Live, Force, MPC Key 37, and a few more that I’m currently forgetting…

All I want is to turn something on and start playing. Mainly acid techno, but I also want polyphonic MIDI recording for times when I’m playing classical piano (so sadly things that only do 8 not polyphony are out).

Given the new MPC 3 videos, this arranger mode is really appealing to me, but then again I LOVED the Force’s scenes which mapped to the pads, and the clip mode (never got into the Arranger even though after today I should have!) - should I sell the Key 37 and go back to a Force or should I bite the bullet and get a Hapax?

Or… who here has an MPC and a Pyramid combo, or who here had a Pyramid then traded up to a Hapax but later traded back down to a Pyramid.

… stupid GAS

You should get another Force to use with your Key37.

I was considering a Force and nearly bought one a few times, but apparently it can only do 4/4, so I’m now a happy user of the Hapax.

The Hapax is indeed like an Ableton sequencer (or two Ableton sequencers running simultaneously), but more hands-on, with more opportunities for exploration and happy creative accidents.
