Hälp - can't create new projects

Dear community,

first week with my Octatrack, first major issue I ran into:
I cannot seem to successfully create new projects (OR move beyond)

I take the regular way by pressing Function+Mixer(/Project) --> PROJECT --> CHANGE --> now if I opt to change an existing project I get this message:

--- LOAD PROJECT ---

SOME ERRORS OCCURRED!
‘PARSE ERROR’
DO YOU WANT TO ABORT
LOADING THIS PROJECT?
“YES” “NO”

At first I could choose Y/N and it would then lead me to the regular start screen. Now this screen doesn’t even go away - it’s there and frozen upon restart unless I unplug the power supply.

If I opt to create a new empty project the loading bar appears and the screen freezes when it’s about half way through.

I have tried both options multiple times with the same result.

Hälp!
& Thanks in advance!

  • What OS version are you running?
  • What CF card do you have?
  • How old is the OT and CF card?

The error you are seeing is because it is either not creating the Project file correctly, or not reading it correctly when tryig to load (even if it is a new project)

Potentially corrupt CF card, or an OS bug.

I would advise to backup your data, try formatting the card, perform a factory reset, and see if you can replicate the error, and report back.

All at your own risk of course.

Steps:

  • Backup everything on your card, and do it right now.

  • After safely backed up, restart the Octatrack whilst holding the [Function] key, then I think press [4] to do a [Factory Reset] (options will be displayed on the screen)

  • After reset, then format the CF card:

  • [Function] + [Mixer]

  • [System]

  • [Card Tools] -> [Format Card]

  • Perform error testing.

  • Post back results here.

Thanks Rusty, that was lightning fast!
Appreciate it!

  • the Octatrack is from 2012/13
  • I did a factory reset
  • I formatted the Flashcard (it’s a 1 GB Kingston)
  • I successfully updated from 1.25D to the newest version

I was able to create a new set +project.

However I still get the “PARSE ERROR” message upon boot / reboot. Choosing YES / NO (see above) does work, but it’s obviously a dead end street.

On another occasion, when trying to accessing the project it freezes during “SYNCING PROJECT” Screen.

I’m pretty scared this will end up with me having to send it to the pros for serious cash - especially since there’s no more warranty. meh :frowning:

Anything else I can do beyond get a new flashcard / or in case I got one and the issue remains?

Thanks again!
