Grid programming for slices?

Hi. I’m a brand new user and trying to figure some things out with this powerful machine and could use some help with something:

I’ve recording a live drum sample into a track. Trimmed it so it loops properly, then sliced it up using the slice grid function.

I can play those individual slices using the sequencer buttons, and I record me playing them, and then edit on/off each of those hits.

But what I’m trying to figure out is if I can program each slice separately using the sequencer, not just live playing.

For a simple example, let’s say I have 4 slices made from a sample: bass drum, snare, closed hat, open hat. Now I want to sequence those slices using the grid, NOT relying on me playing them in time. Let’s say a 16-step sequence: Is it possible to program slice 1 to play on steps 1, 5, 9, and 13, slice 2 to play on steps 5 and 9, slice 3 to play on the even steps, and slice 4 to play on step 15?

I get that playing multiple slices simultaneously in the same track may not work… if so, is it still possible to program no more than one slice per step?

It seems I can only have one slice assigned to the step sequencer at a time, but not multiple on different steps.

Any help is appreciated!
Jason

Check the descriptions of the parameters of the Flex and Static machines in the manual. If your sample is sliced and SLIC in the Playback Setup screen is set to on, then you can parameter-lock which slice plays on each step.

You can lock one slice to play on each step on each track.
