Greetings friends. Back up RYTM MK2 With a 2nd Unit?

Can I back up my entire unit on a “second RYTM MK2 device?” One for the purpose of “A Back Up Unit” only. Not for playing around on. I know that would be costly, but it would be a back up plan to losing all of ones songs. That would be cool if there was a way to plug one unit into a brand new unit and back everything up to it…Any one know if that is possibles? Thankie

You should be able to do a full backup to a PC or Mac using Transfer.

Over the weekend, I backed up my A4 to my mac, and then transferred the backup to my new AK. This is done in terms of slots, so now I’ve got the slots I filled on my old unit in addition to what came with the new one.

Oh, that would be great. Thanks. I hope someone makes a video on how to do this soon. Just wonder if all the song modes and chains would be dialed in correctly etc just as you initially had them. Hopefully. Slots. Alright sounds good, congrats.

Edit: Rytm manual is here: https://www.elektron.se/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Analog-Rytm-MKII-User-Manual_ENG_OS1.61B_210603.pdf

Page 14 talks about the +Drive and how it works. On my A4/AK, Projects are contained within slots. So I just need to backup the current slot and EVERYTHING is backed up and restored properly. It’s an amazing system for archiving your work on the machine as you go as well.

Pretty sure I had a weird issue with songs specifically, where I saved the project, but had not explicitly saved the song since making changes, and the backup/restore had a state for the song that was the last explicit save of the song (i.e. not the state it was in when I called save project).

When I went and saved the song directly, and then backed up, the transfer/restore was fine.

I don’t know if it was just, or if it is in the manual/expected, or what, but just a caveat to be aware of.
