Great Drum Samples, Where!?

Hey!

I’ve been searching for drum samples (snares, kicks, hats, claps, etc.) a bit like Chromeo’s songs for making a Disco House DJ Mix (example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLtJs4jLa54). I just can’t find any of this sounds on the main samples libraries like NI, Reason, etc).

Anyone know where I can find this kind of samples? I’m f*cking desperate!

Regards.
John

I cant watch the video for some reason but Chromeo uses a lot of older gear so find some samples of the Oberheim DMX, Linndrum and other 80s drummachines. There is a Reason Refill by Discodiktator and you can download them here.

Thanks NisseJ ! But this is for Reason only . I meant to say wav drum samples for use into the Analog Rytm. Thanks anyway.

maybe this helps: http://samples.kb6.de/downloads.php

Thanks!

Awesome resource! Thank you!

I was actually trying to thank Hans Olo. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Big list of free samples: http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2010/09/16/free-sample-shootout-5-the-best-free-drum-machine-samples/ It’s an older link and not all of them work but there are lots of samples there.

http://machines.hyperreal.org/samples.html the bedroomproducers blog links to some of their kits but there are way more at their site.

EEPROM samples of the Oberheim DMX and DX. http://www.electrongate.com/dmxfiles/eproms.html

and EEPROM samples of the Roland TR-909. http://www.colinfraser.com/tr909/my909.htm down the page under Crash, Ride and Hi-Hats.

EEPROM samples are interesting because they are what is actually on the digital chip inside those machines, not from what you hear out the output. They have not been shaped or colored by envelopes, amps or DACs of those machines. The Rytm has a great analog signal path (envs and lfos are digital but arent actually part of the signal path) after the sample stage so it seems especially appropriate for EEPROM samples.

All this is great! Thanks!

I watch on youtube that Chromeo use a MPC 5000 for all the drums. Anyone know if there are samples out there?

Samples of a sampler?

Samples of a sampler?
In the old days, I had a sampler, to sample the sampler that sampled another sampler that sampler a drummachine/synth … it was just the only way to get certain sounds… But in this case, I think they just wanted the sample-library the dude put in his sampler

Yeah, one thing is a 808’s bass drum sample and a completely different is the same sample through the MPC, it’s much more warmer.

I’ve had some Linn LM-1 samples for years, so long that I can’t remember where I got them from, but I am thinking of upgrading to the Aly James VLinn to improve the quality and variety of them. I don’t think the VLinn exports directly as WAV though, so I might have to export sounds from inside a DAW and edit them with Audacity

I think I got my Oberheim DMX samples from Dubsounds. I recently bought some more from Goldbaby. You can also buy them from places like Biome Digital, Loopmasters and Prime Loops.

(Yes, I do buy them. What can I say? I’m a generous guy and I like to make sure I don’t breach anybody’s copyright.)

By the way, I love the groove on http://youtu.be/Zm4JVkH0T-E.
