I have? Ms20 mother-32 so looking for polyphony synths. Digitone can seq 8 notes
how about hydrasynth desktop, 8 voices? a micromonsta 2, or an a4 mkII? figure out your sonic goals, what you want to do with the polyphony when you have it, and how much you want to spend because your budget is going to be a huge factor in this.
Digitone is already polyphonic, so figuring out what it doesn’t do or what you feel you’re missing and targeting that is probably your first priority. Literally any polyphonic synth that can be controlled by midi is realistically a good synth to sequence with digitone. Also, it feels like there’s a lot of overlap here with existing discussions so it could be beneficial to search for topics of polyphonic synths and combine that with info you get here. good luck!
Yeah, go for a different flavor that Digitone can’t cover. Like an analog synth with character. But you surely have something in mind that you think is missing in your sound palette?
Blackbox is nice with DN. You can populate all 4 DNs tracks with multisample instruments from BB if you so desire. You already own two of the best sounding subractive synthesizers, so why not bounce them into a sampler and play them polyphonically.
I’m sequencing three Dreadbox synths with my DK midi channels.
It’s rad
Virus snow. 4 tracks of great FM + 4 tracks of the best VA engine
A second Digitone.
Wavestate. You can go “quad-timbral” if you like. Or use it has a single voice and get stuff you can’t get on an FM or analog synth
Honestly, for me, it works best with a multiple monosynths rather than a poly, unless dedicating the whole Digitone MIDI out to one synth. Even still, chords are just easier/faster in the DAW than on the Digitone, though a simple background pad isn’t too hard to record and manipulate.
I can say the Digitone and SE-02 have gotten along fantastically well, whereas I usually don’t bother having the Digitone play the OB-6.
