That’s what I was wondering. That is an absolute beast of a device!
I’ve been going back and forth on the 5B vs 5D. Honestly like them both in the demos I’ve heard. What tipped you to ultimately favor the 5D?
There seems to be a bit of downsample/bitcrush fizz on the 5? Is this just my ears?
The 5D has a sliglty longer max delay time and a very lo-fi vibes to it. It’s hardto choose between the two but as I got the FL9 wich is the brightest and fastest it figure it was best to also get the darkest and slowest.
Thanks for sharing my vid!
always superb Duskmos, enjoying your CT5 new one right now!
(Have you done an 856 for ZELLERSASN?)
Such kindness haha thanks! I haven’t yet seen an 856 in person, I want to check one out though - even just for myself. I’ve almost picked one up a few times on Reverb whenever the curiosity strikes, but they’re always priced pretty high, and the fact that you can’t buy them new means I have less of a drive to actually shoot one for my channel (kinda bums everyone out when I do videos on hard to get or discontinued stuff haha). I’d definitely like to check one out though - seems like the ultimate CT5. =)
Just got the FL 7 and 5B in. With very limited testing of the FL 5B it sounds great, and build quality is top drawer.
Edit: After a few days using them, I’m really glad I picked them up. They seem to be made for synth heads of all kinds. The sound is just incredible, especially the stereo. I thought the two knobs for wet and dry were overkill, but turn out to be incredibly useful.
I can see getting the other two, as I’m not finding a ton of overlap between the two I have, and absolutely love the sound coming from them.
The 5B vs 5D decision was too tough and the D is out of stock for now - listening to them in videos sometimes I think I’d prefer one or the other but $1300 for two is where I draw a line in the sand. A tone knob would have been so useful on these even with the difference in B and D.
FWIW I have the 5B and am very happy with it.
Though I admit the 5D sounds better on the reviews I watched, I’m not sure how that plays out in real life, since the demos are also fairly crap musically.
My understanding is Oliver will release more 5D sometime in the next few months, so might be worth the wait, and mailing Glou Glou to see if there’s a waiting list.
I really think the Flancher’s are special and idea for synth/modular use.
In fact, I’ll probably also get the 5D, but that’s only because I find the 5B to be incredibly useful.
Here’s another video of the Flancher-series. This time focusing on the FL9, the Flanger version, together with Twisted Electrons MEGAfm and Roland S-1.
The 5D is back in stock but I’m still vacillating between the 5B and 5D…
It looks like Glou-Glou has done some price drops on the Flancher series. The 5’s are now $600 each (previously $650).
Has anyone been able to compare one of these to the Walrus Meraki directly? Curious for thoughts.
