Getting labels to stick to cables

Whenever I try to label my cables in a clean way they always end up “jumping off” over time. Anyone have secret tricks to avoid this?

Put the labels further down on the cable and let the cable stick adhesive to adhesive, not relying on the label sticking to the smooth vinyl.

It can still get moved around where it’s touching the vinyl and eventually slide around to where it becomes loose, but there’s not a great deal you can do with audio cables.

With power cables i just label the PSU itself.

Clear heatshrink might be an option (space permitting)

As mentioned, maybe try labels that can be attached on the cable part and not the connector, something like this:

Most label makers have a flag option for doing cable labels, like this not particularly stunning but fairly practical example:
