Genki "Wave" Gesture Midi Controller Ring

A wearable ring that sends Bluetooth Midi commands based on your hand movements like tilts and taps, as well as pushes on it’s buttons. It gives haptic and visual feedback. They are crowd-funding the manufacture at the moment. They are also building a Eurorack receiver for this.

Promised for December 2018.
(I am on the edge of funding this – with the Eurorack receiver.)

This is the one used by Imogen Heap, and adopted by other singer/songwriters.

Works only with computer though - no Eurorack or other hardware.

Review of the Genki Wave by loopop. Unfortunately, the Eurorack receiver is not available at the time of review, so all he can do is mention it briefly. Ability to control CV without computer would be a major win, as I’ve never gotten on w/ softsynths outside of IOS

Genki Wave Eurorack demonstration at Superbooth 18

This could add another expressive element to Eurorack or any CV controllable synth performance.

Looks like a fun and promising way to control music gear! Now if it can manage OT and A4 even better!

Check out the video at the top of this article to see how the ring works and what it’s like in performance.

Their web-site has been updated and is really well done and there are some good videos there too:

I’m considering both the ring and the Eurorack board too.

MiMu has just released software called Glover for expressive gestural control of music.

It currently is set to use the MiMu Glove but later this year they will add support for the Genki Wave.
