FX settings are lost when selecting another FX?

Hi there,

Consider these steps:

  • Select an FX on any track (Delay for instance)
  • Change some FX settings you will remember
  • Select another FX (Dark reverb for instance)
  • Select back first FX (Delay)
  • Setting that were set are back to their default values

So basically, changing FX selection after having configured it has the effect to reset the settings. Meaning, FX settings are not saved once they are un-selected.

Can anyone explain this behavior ?
Is there any way to pre-configure an FX which is not selected ?

Regards,
David

You canā€™t have delay and reverb on the same track. Is that what youā€™re trying to do?

Or

Track 1 - delay, make changes.

Track 2 - reverb, make changes.

Go back to track 1 - delay changes that were user made, have reverted to init settings?

Edit to say you ā€˜canā€™ get both on the same track but itā€™s a workaround

Yeah, thatā€™s how it works. Youā€™re not really meant to be changing the effects on the fly like that, within a performance, so when you change settings and go back it goes to the default.

As far as Iā€™m aware thereā€™s no way to overwrite and save a different ā€œdefault stateā€ for each effect.

What you could do, if this is a problem thatā€™s effecting how you want to use the Octatrack in a performance or production, is use parts. Copy your part to a new part slot, change the effects but donā€™t change the sounds. Now you can bounce between two instances of the same arrangement but have different effects in each FX slot and itā€™ll obviously save the settings.

Not at all

Iā€™m talking about changing the FX (any effecf really) back and forth on the same track and same FX slot

Aw too bad

This is what Part save and Part reload is for.
Save Part.

Tweak stuff. When you want to return to the saved Part, hit Part reload.

Part = Kit.

And you can also reload fx pages values once saved.
Hold concerned page button + NO.

(Apparently it doesnā€™t reload saved fx type, you have to set it previously, unless there is a wayā€¦)

You can copy/paste FX. Would that not be a reasonable solution to this issue?

Surely that would work for 10 seconds but keeping clipboard for longer would be hard
