French House Basslines

Hi iam wondering how french guys like daft punk or alan braxe create their basslines. Sometimes i think they use a Bass Guitar or a Moog for these phat and funky basses. Any recommendations for creating funky basslines? I thought maybe i try it on a Model D cause i have no bass guitar. I think the tune from Daft Punk Voyager is a good example.

Here’s Alan Braxe and Fred Falke talking about their process

cool thanks a lot

Most of that stuff is probably sampled. If you want to recreate anything in music ever then you can just transcribe it and play it. So if there is a bass line you like just learn it and try and incorporate it or something similar in your own music.

Yeah a hell of a lot of french house is made of samples, quite fun to look up a track on https://www.whosampled.com/ to see what was used.

yep that could be and is also my thought…a sampled bass guitar with a moog on top layered.

love this site

Gee I haven’t been on that site for ages, it’s got a shit load of nasty ads, even with add blockers they still get thru. I can’t stand when a video starts playing and can’t be stopped.

There is much skill in the mixing and sample choice of bass lines.

That Fred Falke Video is a eye opener for funky basslines thanks much! Definitly know now who made the bassline in Alan Braxe & Fred Falke - Running tune
