Has anyone had any issue with loading samples into slate? For me it’s become an almost 50/50 chance of the sample actually loading into the device. I’ve tried with Lives aif files and my own wav files. It happens both in Opal and the standalone slate device.
Did you email yesterday also? Sorry doing an inbox session tonight
Unfortunately a lot of the stock library in Live has meta data that is incompatible with Max and there is nothing I can do on my end to fix that – quite annoying and quite odd. (Guess I could/should add some sort of error message and not try to load the incompatible file at all though)
FWIW I’ve never had issues with my own wav files though, sounds odd that that wouldn’t work on your end. Did you get the wav files from some service that may have additional meta data?
I’m gonna try and do a thorough report of this to Cycling74 so this gets fixed. I think they fixed some of it in Live 12 but seems like some more exotic AIF files are still a problem.
I did haha, that’s good to know about the meta data I’ve never run into that with max? The ones I had tried with were actually from someone on here quite a bit, LostLevels, I’m not sure if they have any data associated with them or not. I’ll try it later tonight but I suppose I could just bounce the sample in an audio track and use that?
Good afternoon
Is there a way to load samples in bulk into the 16 Slate slots and not do it individually?
Thank you!
Wicked!
Is it possible right now to sync pattern changes of multiple opal or opal ctrl instances?
Is this baby ever going to come to AU or vst? Drambo is a decent elektron-esque sequencer but OPAL looks amazing. Im diggin what im hearing from TELA!
I reckon you could do it with a M4L device that enables global macro control e.g.
But I have not tried it myself
All Fors devices including Opal 20% off until Nov 24:
Bought Opal a while back but just diving in now. Love it.
One thing I can’t seem to wrap my head around though–can the presets be brought into the main Opal instance?
It seems like they’re .adv instances, when what I need is .json files.
Is there any way to convert them?
No, the main device has its own preset format that’s not compatible with adv due to the whole sequencer storage etc. No way to convert them from adv to json (that I know of!)
All good. I’ve just grabbed a coffee and started recreating the individual instances in the main player, then saving them as .json files. Just like having some non-randomized starting points to modulate and P-lock as a relative FM novice.
This really is an awesome device, thank you Ess!
Has anybody experienced issues with Opal’s mixer automations being fine in the arrangement view but not rendering in the export? My export keeps the automation to its initial value during the entire duration of the export, even though if you listen to it within Live it evoles as expected. Any idea?
Using Opal-Ctl x4 to sequence Noise Engineering Plugins (BI, MI, LIP & CIP) …
Opal-Ctl is worth the price of admission alone !
I’m using newest version of Fors Opal (version 1.3) and I can’t load the sound presets. The manual says “To load a preset file, drop it in the track-selector area on Opal-rack or the Mixer rack-window on the pop-out version, as seen below.”. Then there’s a picture showing where to drop it:
I’ve tried this and nothing happens.
Note that the presets work when you wan’t to use the devices in standalone, like f.x. when only using the GEM engine.
Anyone got this working?
@Ess maybe I can draw your attention towards this
This to me seems like a bug, anyone know where to submit a bug report?
I think you might be trying to load Ableton format presets (e.g .adv) – the presets in Opal uses json format so you can’t load the “normal” presets file on either of those drag and drop spots.
This is used with the presets you can save directly from the Opal device, the text in this section of the manual goes over how to do this.
Yeah your right!
Would be amazing to get hold of some nice presets though in JSON format. Don’t see any with the package. Any JSON presets available online?
I should have spent some time making presets in that format, it’s a bit of an overlooked feature on my end… Sorry about that! But we do have a handful of artist packs on the Opal page which has some pattern banks (which can be used as a starting point)
