I’ve never seen hairspray described as “all weather” before.
Fence paint, but never hairspray.

Trust this old 80s goth when I say that it lived up to that promise…
Me DJing at my friend’s 80s-themed bday party before Omicron shut down all the fun again. That about right, Scot…?
Well, this is sitting unused at my university’s electronic music studio. Maybe I should just “borrow” it for a while…
Or you could steal it.
Platinum Blonde souvenir.
Pretty much, yeah. Back in the 1980s, I was young, pretty, and desperately wanted to be Daniel Ash.
…if u go for keys, go for good keys…
if u go for unweighted keys, pick some that offer more than just velocity…
like poly aftertouch, for example…or even mpe options like on osmosis…
if u go for weighted, than some naked fatar hardware or built in on some nord instrument…
never forget about nice mod and pitch wheel options…
and keep in mind, no matter what synth it should be, a desktop version with no dedicated synth engine might be the better solution, since a really good keyboard controler makes anything a serious music instrument, aslong it’s talking midi…
and hey, a warm welcome to the half century club…
Trust me, I had to borrow that hair in 2021.
Dude, I’d have to borrow pretty much any hair these days.
Yeah, another idea would be to go for something like an Osmose which would make everything I already have more useable. A P5 or P6 module could be added later and take up less space.
Thanks! I’m trying to feel ok about that…
Unused!! Thats not a university its a museum 🥸
Excellent - Bauhaus/Love and Rockets was my ‘80s too !
(I had the hair for it as well back then!)
Apparently none of the music faculty know how it works–they’re all using “computers” these days. And actually, some of our coolest stuff literally is in a museum (but the curator lets me play with it):
As reported on the latest purchase thread: OM-28 was the winner! And thanks for all the good advice here.
Beautiful instruments. Congrats. Hope it brings you much joy. I’ve got my eye on one of these myself. As one of my favorite songwriters has said, “gonna borrow a Martin or Gibson…”
Would love to see pics of the 00-28 if you feel like sharing as well.
What about forever samplers? It would be the SP-16 for me for sure.
I’m a keyboardists who dabbles with guitar and bass on the side, and started out on drums. Actually I was a full time keyboardist back in the 80’s with a stack that included my favorite, the Rhodes Chroma and a Memory Moog. The thing with keys is they eventually get old and start having trouble. In my area there is no one to work on a keyboard. On the other hand, there are lots of people who can keep a forever guitar in top shape. So… before I retired I bought a NICE Taylor, a nice PRS guitar, a MesaBoogie amp (before they were bought out), and a Doc Sweeny boutique drum set. Got my “forever” in everything but keys. Someday when I am even older and ready to move into a retirement community I will sell my man cave/music store and get the current equivalent to the Fantom 7.
Retirement House is a legit genre, right? My first question when I get a pacemaker will be does it have sync out?
I was wondering similar the other day, will I still be fiddling with music gear in my 80s and if so what? The mind boggles what might be available in 50 years time.
