Is there a foot controller that could be used to mute/unmute tracks on the digitakt? It’d have to be something with one dedicated button per track, because I’d need to use it while simultaneously playing drums.
I don’t know what’s controllable on the DT. But assuming mutes are, then a Morningstar is worth looking into! Great pedals. Had it working with an OT before. You’d need to check the midi mapping section of the manual for the DT.
Hey, if you check out the midi implementation chart on pages 88 and then page 91 in the user manual it gives the midi CC and NRPN for both track mutes and patten mutes, I’ve never used a foot controller for this but given that I’ve used one digi to mute another before, I know you have to engage “internal/external” under the mute control in the midi settings menu and you’ll have to program the controller with the appropriate CC probably with the software that accompanies it (assuming there is no UI built into the pedal).
The short answer is yes, you should be able to do that but you’ll need to consult the midi implementation chart and the manual or manufacturer provided data of the pedal you choose and if you want it to be able to mute all tracks without switching banks on the footswitch it will need at least 8 non latching switch points (pedals) on the board, if you want to be able to mute and unmute midi tracks as well, it will need double that. You could consider that some midi footswitch/pedal boards do allow foot control toggling between multiple banks of pre-programmed actions. There are so many different pedals at so many pricepoints, there really isn’t enough data on your end to make a recommendation so I’d say make a point to mention how much you’re looking to spend and how many tracks you intend to control and maybe someone will recommend something in your ballpark price range. That’s the best I got, hope that helps.

A DIY foot pedal using an Arduino is an option.
There might be cheaper options, but this is one that came to mind: 12 Step USB MIDI Bass Pedal Foot Controller | Keith McMillen Instruments
sorry for the delayed response, thanks everyone for the recommendations!
Did you decide on a pedal controller?
looks like the morningstar MC6 is the one that fits my needs most. Still have a few pieces of gear I need to get before that, but the in depth research stage has begun.
