Man I hate trying to whittle it down to just 5 :grimacing:

This list is subject to change from pretty much the second I hit submit…

  1. Radiohead - Kid A
  2. Super Furry Animals - Guerrilla (could pick any of them though)
  3. Dogs Die In Hot Cars - Dogs Die In Hot Cars (why did they only have one album?!)
  4. Blue Nile - A Walk Across The Rooftops
  5. To My Boy - Messages

I’m already regretting that list. The Futureheads debut isn’t in there for a start. Neither is Tame Impala’s “Currents” or Hefner’s “Dead Media”.

Always a tough one. Also changes from time to time. But, here goes:

  1. Boards of Canada - Music has the right to children.
  2. Clark - Empty the Bones of You
  3. Plaid - Double Figure
  4. Aphex Twin - Drukqs
  5. Squarepusher - Go Plastic

Ok.

Goldfrapp - Black Cherry
Radiohead - OK Computer
Deftones - White Pony
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Hotel Neon - Context

Four are all-time favourites and one is a new(ish) discovery but I am so in love with it.

Funny that many folks picked Music has Rights over geogaddi, I am betting those folks first taste was the latter. For me it’s was geogaddi…

Yes, Tom Waits!
I don’t even want to answer in this thread, it’s too tough for me, but one Tom Waits album would have to be in there… Probably Frank’s Wild Years, with Rain Dogs coming in a close second…

I suspect people instantly think of roygbiv. Also BoC’s sound syncs up with the album art of Music has the right… moreso than the album art of Geogaddi.

But no, speaking personally, Geogaddi was a significantly more fulfilling album. (Both great, though)

edit: upon review of the two album covers, I’ll double down on my argument. Geogaddi’s cover just doesn’t do the sounds justice like Music Has The Right To Children’s does…

Franks wild years is a good one. Honestly I could choose 5 Waits albums. One from each “phase” of his work and I’d be content.

Hopefully a multi-disc set counts as one album:

Bill Evans “Live At Village Vanguard” (3 discs)
Jan Jelinek “Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records”
Juan Atkins & Moritz Von Oswald “Borderland”
D’Angelo & The Vanguard “Black Messiah”
Tool - “Lateralus”

these are all albums that have many many repeat listenings, so I know I’d be in good hands.

I want to see someone have Merzbow and Jandek in their list- so I know who not to mess with
