First was Kylie Minogue. I was 11 or 12. (My favorite artists at that age were Kylie, Michael Jackson and Jean-Michel Jarre).
Second was The Prodigy, The Experience tour, age about 14.

Fantastic. What a memory plus Napalm Death are brilliantly berserk.
Canāt remember who played, but it was at the Rocking Horse in Northampton in like 1998 or something.
Would have been some shit local metal band, as was the style at the time.
I was shitfaced or high most of the time during my late teens, so itās hard to remember much of what went on.
Pink Floyd in Barcelona 88. I was 12 years old. My fader took me with him. The day I discover what people were massively smokingā¦Very nice live. The entrance was 3000 pesetas ā¦its 18euros today.
Also my first one, Harmony Corruption tour (i belive 89), i was 15 and stage diving all night. Location was the old Batschkapp in Frankfurt. Will never forget that night for the rest of my life.
My first festival was in the netherlands, they had Danzig, nouseforaname, ritch kids on lsd, Kyuss, clawfinger⦠nearly everyone that got big in the following years played there. Unfortunatly they made only very few instances of this festival.
(Dynamo Festival, was absolutly epic / went twive 94 and 95)
Fist big psytrance event was Solipse in 99/ Hungary. (precursed by many small local events.)
Cant wait for this summer, going to see Infected Mushroom and Oscar Mulero on the same event, will be fun. Summercontrast in Poland. With my 50+ crew.
Mom took me with her to Carole King, then surprised me with Weird Al tickets.
First show I saw without parents was the Caffeine-Nation tour with Less Than Jake and Descendents.
Love it.
Is that what they call exponentially adventurous.
Pop princess > Hardcore Rave. Bravo!
Seen them many times but not that tour.
when i reflect on this what a mad first huge pa gig to have experienced.
loads of room to dance too.
i remember them doing a special track for Leeroy (it had this hook that went ārock the house leeroyā or something), but i never saw this released or even on video anywhere, anyone know? or a false memory.
Blondie for the Parallel Lines tour in '79.
dang⦠jealous!
The Roots in Brixton academy early 2000s⦠was epic
+1
U2 on Saint Patrickās day at the Boston Garden in 1992 for Acthung Baby. The Pixies opened. My second show was a month or so later which was The Cure in Providence on the Wish tour. Not a shabby start!
June 20th, 1987, Paul Young and Genesis on the Invisible Touch tour.
Emerson Lake and Palmer at Stockholm Concert hall.
My parents took us to a Beach Boys concert in around 1982. I was twelve, and very underwhelmed; it was one of those outdoor standing things and all I could see were peopleās backs. I complained a lot at the time.
But man, how I wish Iād known what I was seeming then the way I do now. I am still not a Beach Boys fan, but that was an opportunity wasted on a snotty pre-teen. Iād love to go back and relive it now.
It was a band called Reef, which only may be remembered by some UK folks of a certain age as I donāt think they went international but I could be wrong.
It was in Bristol and canāt remember the venue, wouldāve been 1997 I think. Given I was born and raised in the west country, itās good that it was a solid west country band!
I think the second (if anyone cares) was Portishead, also a great west country band!
I went to pre Fat of the Land gig after Firestarter came out at Brixton and the stage was made into a house set with an upstairs and downstairs. They levelled off the floor with a suspended type floor in the pit which semi collapsed during Firestarter when everyone went nuts.
They previewed Fat of the Land songs which of course nobody knew and it was a fair while after the gig until the album came out (felt like years but was probably months)
Vaguely remember a song announced as Gabba - not sure if it ever surfaced officially. Also remember Leroy taking over the instrument reigns for a song (possibly drums?).
Memory too hazy as doubt I was even 18 back then as before Uni. However I do remember Keef downing bottles of water and spitting it out over the audience and at one stage I got a load in the face which was a pleasure back then haha.
There was DJ set afterwards until 6am but we left to get some food and they wouldnt allow us back in so we crashed outside the Tube station until it opened
Pet Shop Boys - 1989 - Birmingham NEC
