Self explanatory title really… would love to be able to route the Sound Browser through the headphones in order to cue up sounds while the main A+B outputs take care of the music. In a live situation this would be a massive help for artists who create stuff on the fly and don’t rely on pre-compiled kits / sounds.
Perhaps something like:
Main outs: Playing pattern
Headphones: Playing pattern + Sound Browser OR just Sound Browser
I guess the pattern played through the main outs would still be affected even if it was possible to implement this feature. There are only 4 synth voices available. So one of the voices playing on main pattern would have to go while listening to another sound through the headphones.
A voice is sacrificed when using the Sound Browser while a pattern is playing anyway, so just being able to route the gibberish audition noises separate from the main audio path would be useful despite the ‘limitations’ of 4 voices.
I’d love a feature that let me mark a track for cueing that would be similar to mute, except it would just route straight to the headphones only. Obviously that’s impossible if the headphone jack is just piggybacking off the main outs.
Heck even if they just added that feature to the regular track mute I’d be happy with it, since I rarely mute tracks while I’m working on stuff in private.
If the A4 had the ability to load tracks from other patterns that would also be killer. I sometimes wonder why there’s Save Track/Reload Track options under the Track menu without the ability to also load an entirely different track to it. Although if you get crazy with the tweaks and p-locks you can revert back quickly which is handy. They wouldn’t even really have to implement a “name the track” setup, you could just navigate all your patterns and select the track from the one you want.
Glad I used the search function first… I was just about to make the same feature request.
I tend to work in a hybrid DJ/Producer type way in both performance and studio settings, so cuing is and has always been a core fundamental of my workflow. Having the ability to cue the sound browser in the headphones would be a massive help and make performance a much easier and free flowing situation. Taking it a step further to be able to cue individual tracks would be even better, so we can cue up a sound and lay down a pattern before releasing it into the output mix.
maybe 3/4 of a year back, a elektronauts user, said he could maybe implement this feature without having to solder anything … we / I havent heared from him … BUT
we could start a crowdfund / indigogo / this thing where a lot of people give money for a mutual beneficial goal …
and we buy a second hand A4 so he could start his magic, and maybe come up with an aftermarket solution (no way in hell this wouldn’t void guarantee, but hey, HEYYY this feature would be kickass! )
so 80 people from the forum, 10 bucks each, 1 used analog four —> years of happiness and cued sounds …
I’d be interested to hear some details about that idea… and if it seemed viable I would certainly support a Kickstarter type of thing if it offered a reward of a working cueing device.
