FEATURE REQUEST: Analog OS - Song Mode Pattern Length Control

Hello dear Elektronauts,

One gorgeous and crucial thing from the MD sequencer is missing from the Analog OS song mode so far: pattern length control.

The ability to set what would be now the “master” pattern length from song mode was was so useful on the MD. It allowed you to get the value of many patterns from just one; to create odd-numbered patterns from existing patterns; to create DJ-style jitters and jumps and builds from one pattern; and overall to use fewer pattern slots to do more things.

I know y’all are working on Song Pointer Mode for the Analog devices, but this composer would <3 so much the bringing back of this element. I understand it’s slightly trickier now with the sequencer allowing different pattern lengths, but I’d think that this hypothetical Song Mode Pattern Length Control would just patch into the Master Pattern Length in the pattern, no?

One can approximate this now by going to the Pattern Length controls and changing the Master Length manually, but this obviously is limiting because 1) it can’t be pre-programmed, 2) it moves more or less by step, 3) it takes up the whole LCD, so you can’t (for example) filter sweep while building out the pattern length (2, 3, 4, 5) etc.

In a hypothetical world, it would also be cool to be able to control the start point of a pattern (in steps, 1-64) from Song Mode. Start at bar 2, or beat 17, etc.

I’d love feedback on whether or not this is possible / happening / never happening etc.

Cheers!

Jack

+1. machinedrum song mode is amazing and I was surprised that a4 song mode is so different.

Definitely space there for more options. The way the rows are set up I’m not sure how they can add length and offset in there. Unless it’s per row.
