Everything about this is incredible
Been a huge fan of DOOM since i discover the man in a compilation CD offered with a french skateboarding magazine in 2004.
Maybe some french people or belgian (like me) can recall this:
Did this couple months ago as a kind of tribute to the Vik.
Since i’m no hip-hop producer a tried to make something more in my “scope”
New Armand Hammer just dropped for the Billy Woods fans, couple tracks I’ve listened to so far are great.
I saw this in the “music videos that hit hard” thread, pretty weird but I liked it. conceptually and in execution this video production is really high spec.
The creature costume is especially well done! It looks pretty much entirely practical, and the long shots lingering on the face show a confidence in craft that is refreshing to see
Yeah, it’s beyond amateur work. Someone put a lot of money into that costume even above the level of a dedicated designer, that kind of job is not inexpensive to execute.
My 4 year old daughter was introduced to the concept of rapping by this video and now wants to watch it again and again and points out and says “she’s rapping!”.
Even if J Noa wasn’t 17 years old this would be an amazing performance. I love how she clearly knows she’s one of the fastest rappers in the world so just plays with it. And popping on the subtitles as I don’t speak Spanish it’s funny how many of her lyrics are about being the fastest and best. It’s a hip hop cliche but coming from a 17 year old Dominican black woman in Spanish stops the cliche and makes it kick ass.
Can imagine her being featured on all sorts over the next few years.
DOOM
Honourable mentions to Kool Keith as Dr Octagon and most of Heiro (I know, super fly bro) notably Souls of Mischief, and Pharcyde who I recently saw in Sydney and they were awesome!
I responded to the question earlier in the thread, but I’m not sure if I ever mentioned this, or if someone else did.
Every time I see this thread title come up, I initially read it as:
“Favorite Rapper… …and why is it MF Doom?” Very presumptuous.
I just sent a few of these to a friend of mine yesterday, he’s on a tear right now!
You know, I don’t think that I put my son on here. He raps less now, and has a semi-punkish-band now.
He has better tracks, but I’m at work, so I just grabbed a couple.
Actually, I like this one:
He’s a little bit different than me.
There’s lots about DOOM in this Pete Nice interview but also this great bit about one of my actual favorite rappers Slick Rick…
Yeah, it was mainly the phrasing I was giggling at. I can descend into grammar nerdism on rare occasions. (in a humorous way though…)
Love Slick Rick!
MF DOOM patches from Synthtoys for those interested
note: I’m unaffiliated; just saw these while looking at other things
