Eyedea had more depth than those other cats though when it came to song writing…imho
felt like he was forcing himself to be a battle rapper because he had the aptitude and he was intelligent enough to know he was operating in an industry which will check your credentials if you’re a white dude that has the same vocal register as a shicka shicka slim shady type character.
could never really stomach Canibus, I mean why so agro bro…
talented punchliner no doubt but how grimy in the streets can you get while programing your computer up in your room I dunno…
when I first heard him say can I bus I thought it should have been the name of a song and never something he called himself he didn’t fit the stoner mold either…
for my taste great rap skill+lack of purpose, always = eww, reminds me of that hopsin cat

Kool Keith just released what must be his 1,235th album. Not many work as hard as he does.
That must be why he rarely ever shows up to gigs he’s booked for.
He’s got shit to do.
Eating Captain Crunch while wearing a fur rug around your neck is time-consuming business indeed.
There’s a lot of rappers from NYC, but Kool Keith is NYC. Always loved is very random yet very specific sports references.
One of my favorites W hich band did you see him in?
Ive seen Them, Subtle, and Clouddead. Subtle might be some of the craziest shows ive seen live in the experimental realm.
Also Scribble Jam Dose was a force!
Any folks in here into Brad B/Drunken Immortals/The Insects? Drifter and the first Insects album, Free the Hard Way were things I bumped very hard when they came out, they have the same kinda unpretentious left politics and diy ethics that I got from punk and hearing it from these records made me feel a little more at home working on beats. This stuff has gotten way more nostalgic for me as the friend who introduced me to this stuff back in the 00’s passed away in 2019.
Brad B and Foundation are the homies! Used to do shows with them pretty frequently when I’d hit the SW in my younger touring days. Or when they would make it up to the NW where I lived… great folks, great music!
I saw the Mush package tour in 2002.
Highlights on DVD: https://www.discogs.com/release/346533-Various-Mush-Tour-Spring-2002
What a time to be alive!!!
Crazy lineup! Ive watched the clouddead videos a bunch from this now that i look closer!
I never get tired of his flow though…
Me neither. His last was his Black Elvis follow up, and his flow and style remains pretty consistent after all these years.
I saw the mush tour in Lawrence, ks and Minneapolis. Odd nosdam has been one of my favorite producers since buying the no more wig for Ohio cdr in Minneapolis. I need to watch that tour dvd again. I don’t really remember much about the shows since I’m sure at that time in my life I would’ve been very drunk at those shows
